  1. Very impressive Tobias! Before beginning this kind of project, do you list all the assembly groups you're planning to proceed with? If so, I am curious about that groups list, how many of them do you need for a model that kind?
  2. Google "TYC tail lights 80-86 f-series". You can find TYC lenses from multiple sources. LMC sells them. I bought one from Amazon, the other one from eBay. They were identical to my OEM ones.
  3. Guys, should I bill Ford for this Bullnose add?
  4. Today, I had a work site inspection at Mont Tremblant ski station summit (roof job). The weather was sooo beautiful, so I decided to take Big Brother with me. Mont Tremblant facts: - Alt: 3175' -Climb: 2116' Big Bro climbed slowly without any issue. So did the engine temperature, but not overheating. Here are some pictures of this nice "work" trip. Sometimes, I really love my job.
  5. Chuck, you're right that the new pad is very expansive, and I am sorry to say that its quality is questionable. I went that way, and installed the new pad yesterday. I planned 30 minutes, it took me the afternoon. Installation was very complicated, required a lot of adjustments. The final look is good, but I did not figure out that it would be so difficult to fit it. I plan to post a detailed thread about my experience with this new pad.
  6. Today, installed the new dash bought from LMC, and two new OEM front door armrests bought on eBay. Armrests were quite easy. About the dash, the final result is nice BUT the installation was a real and huge PAIN. I'll post details about this new dash journey in a specific thread.
  7. Same weight as the 1990 Ranger 4x4 I used to have For that weight, I suppose there is a lot of optional items for a Bullnose... The interior panels? The seats? The bed? Maybe the cabin too? Sure it has a super good mpg score.
  8. Gary, this thread? https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Clutch-release-pivot-pin-E0TZ-7A535-A-NOS-tp64368p64894.html Or maybe this one? https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/WHYDTYTT-What-Have-You-Done-To-Your-Truck-Today-tp148p119686.html
  9. And some humorous ones too: «Split personality? Yep. Well, at least until the two head sections are welded together.» Kind of lobotomy reversal.
  10. Interesting. I never pay attention to my 48" serpentine-path mower belt (which I had to change 2-3 times), I figured it was simply "V" belt. It has a V shape, so... But you're right, it is less stiff and rigid than my old shack water pump V-and-not-serpentine drive belt, a real "V" one.
  11. OMG! Holly, Big Brother, heavy... All there!
  12. Oooooops! My memory was much too enthusiastic, LOL! Gary you're absolutely right, this is the GVWR. Big Brothers weights 5300lb, so we weight bit more than 5500lb. Around 6000lb when fully fueled. Let's edit and say that BigBrother is simply heavy.
  13. Gary, these are of words of wisdom, for sure. Your dad was a sage. That was Big Brother's usual score. Anyway, this spring I swapped the original carb for a new Holly one. The OEM one was working bad, idle problems, choke issue, stuck adjustments. And I was secretly hoping that I could get better mpg ratings... Today was the first real long ride for Big Bro, since the beginning of its restoration in December 2019. I forgot my laptop at our chalet last weekend, so I decided to give our farm boy a ride, 250 miles of highway, country roads and some city driving. Big Bro was really happy. And me too, of course. Got 12,6 mpg. I am satisfied. But honestly, I remain deeply perplexed about old days Ford ads, claiming that these aerodynamically designed beauties - they can even fly - could do between 18-23 mpg epa and 24-33 hwy. I know, I know, they offered a fuel economy package, and I have to admit that Big Brother has a lot in common with a tank, weights 9300lb, has a 351W 4V, is 4x4 geared 4,10 with manual T18 four speeds. Frankly, is it enough to explain these huge differences?
  14. Tobias, what a precision work! I am very impressed with your project! Good continuation in your passion and, please, keep feeding your thread!
  15. Hi Tobias! One of my nearest neighbours comes from Germany. He doesn't really enjoy plane trips, so he prefers to stay here but his wife goes back "home" 2-3 times a year. Very nice people! We speak French, they speak German, and we all have fun jabbering English together. I am very curious about your scaled model project. Very exciting! Please keep us informed, and post pictures!
  16. For my own experience, hard to find in the yards. So it maybe worth the cost, even though expansive for simple plastic adapter and flexible hose. Not sure if all radiator supports have the same rectangular hole to fit this adapter?
  17. Well, I was joking about the tilt steering columns flipping up and down, specially 'cause I thought that yours is not, and is a straight column model. Am I wrong? Anyway, mine is not a tilt model, and had some loose parts that made the steering going up and down. So I will detail here what was my problem. Hope this can help you. Here is a short movie showing the loose I had: https://youtu.be/u_VPsr91hw0 Here are two diagrams about the straight column model. This is where the column is bolted under the dash: This is the lower column diagram. The telescopic section had some loose parts, but my "tilt problem" came mostly from the red circled U-joint: Here are some pictures showing the column dismantling. I was lucky to find a brand new OEM lower column section for sale: Here is the new telescopic section installed to the column. You can see that the U-joint is "open" and not in a metallic cover. But it doesn't matter, this is the only difference with my original one. No more loose parts, nor up and down movement in my steering!
  18. Some humorous friends here would answer this is normal behaviour for a tilt steering column. But I am not one of them. More seriously, before I changed the lower part of Big Brother's column, I had that kind of trouble. That truck never saw asphalted roads, he grown in a wild country with gravel roads, riding them never slower than 40mph, mostly 50 and over. No need to say there were some loose parts... The column is bolted under the dash, and goes through the firewall, but this isn't all it needs to be "solid". If the joints below are loose, the steering can go up and down. With someone in the truck, moving up and down the steering, take a look at the column, under the hood. Won't be surprised if you find some movements at the shaft jonctions.
  19. THAT'S what we call a helper! http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/uploads/6/5/8/7/65879365/laughing-25-x-25_orig.gif
  20. Lookin' at some pictures about Gary's HUGE documentation library, and watching his LIGHT SPEED finding information for us, I had a flash about some Franquin's cartoons. I modified (just a little bit) some of them. Just for fun!
  21. That's a chance for me! Here is the pict, hope you'll enjoy!
  22. Well, Gary, I see that one of the two pages is under construction, but seems to me that they are titled very similarly, but reversely: - Swapping 3G in place of 1G or 2G. - Swapping 1G or 2G for a 3G. Kind of take a new hat to replace your old one, or replace your old hat with a new one. Very subtile... I am missing something? One thing's sure, it's time for some vacation, hey.
  23. Hi, just to make sure, there is no loose in the direction while turning the steering, but up and down movement on the column?
  24. Gary, very first impression: 1- I use my phone a lot when reading at the forum, and also while working at the truck. Sometimes the iPad. Never the laptop when buzzing around the truck. 2- So, .DOC files are difficult to use with these mobile devices. No easy scrolling nor zoom in-out. Forces me to previously download them on the PC, then transfer them in PDF, then using the PDF files on mobile devices. 3- The tabs structure is useful, easily usable on mobile devices. Considering this, I see two ways to integrate Lucas precious step by step guide: A- (the hard way): Split it in different chapter and integrate them directly in each relevant existing page tabs. B- (the short way): Simply create a new tab and put a pdf of Lucas document in it, which could be easily downloaded. At the beginning of the thread, a short explanation to say it is a step by step complement of the different tabs. This is my very humble opinion, based on the tech tools I use to consult the Forum while working on the truck. May not be shared by the majority... Question: Why is there two pages for the same subject?
