Been used! Maybe a little high on the price. Low miles!

That tailgate has seen better days.  But there doesn't seem to be much rust, so the price isn't too bad.

Both front fenders and the tailgate need replaced. I don’t like seeing body damage, it reflects an owner who does not care... usually... I can’t talk since my ‘81 now has plenty (of body damage) and I still care and maintain it to the best of my ability with quality parts.

Still seems high on price for as rough as the body is. The blessing is the damage is on easily swapped panels. Diesel 4x4’s are getting tough to find, so it is not totally unreasonable. New tires and (2) new batteries and a $130 starter is not insignificant. 1985 may or may not have bolt in piston oilers. Miles are low but only if correct. I would want a rear bench seat and some kind of overdrive...

I agree. I am surprised though, I really thought I would want an overdrive in my F250, but with the 3.55 gearing it’s not too bad.

The only way I would consider one now would be if I drove the truck on a lot of long trips.

None of my rigs get great gas mileage, but far better than my truck!

I had a 1994 F250 4wd, 460 EFI and the E4OD. IMO it wasn’t good enough MPG to do a swap or add a Gear Vendors OD.

If if I was pulling or toting an RV, I don’t think I would then either. I wouldn’t go much over 60 MPH anyway and IMO the C6 is a much tougher tranny.

What MPG did you get with that rig running light?  That's roughly what Big Blue will be when I'm done.  (Note that I didn't fall into the trap of using "460" and "MPG" in the same sentence.  )

The best I remember was 13 MPG on a trip, flat ground and 60-65 MPH. 11-12 running 70-75.

In a bad winter with a lot of snow and ice I would get 6.5 around town in 4wd all the time.

Also IIRC, it had 4.10 gearing.

Well, if you got 13 at 65 MPH with 4.10 gears then maybe I can achieve the 14 MPG I'm shooting for at that speed.  You should have been turning 2050 RPM and I'll be at 1800 with my 3.55's.

The IDI really likes the taller gearing. Jan’s ‘86 F250 4x4 Supercab has 3.55’s. When he got it, it had the C6 and got 14 mpg empty. We swapped in a ZF and loaded on about 2,000 lbs worth of spare parts and a topper. I measured 21 mpg at ~55-65 and 19 mpg at highway speeds 70-75. My crew cab with 4.10’s and GVOD ran 17 mpg almost no matter what, and was begging for another gear by 50 mph (3.20 final drive ratio). It will have double overdrive when it gets back on the road.
