I don’t have an E4OD of any kind, so if you can find one there that would be ideal. That would save shipping it in. But I can look as well if you tell me where best to look.

As for parts, we don’t have to go with serious parts, but I would like it to be stout.

The reason I asked was the output shaft comes with either an 8 or 9 tooth drive gear machined into it. The E4OD is only 3" longer than a C6, but the mount pad is 7" further back from the front than a C6, something you will need to allow for in your frame preparation.

Pretty sure it's Trans-Dapt.

How much rear offset is there in a Zf cross member?

I'm going to say 1" for the ZF.  I'll have to check for a Trans-Dapt adaptor or crossmember.  Thanks.

My plan to drop the engine and tranny in as one unit is looking better and better.  With the cab off I'll be able to make any needed changes much easier.

Will do an oil change when it gets light out.

You’ve done that already, and will do an oil change in a bit?  Wow! I’m a slacker. Just taking my first sip of Joe.

Anyway, well done!  👍

Re: WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

Well, Dad's truck got put back in its place at the back of the shop so we can work on Scott's '78.  (Those that came to the show know Scott and his truck.)

Yesterday Scott's son was driving his truck and heard a pop when pushing in the clutch, and then couldn't shift it.  Looks like something has gone wrong with the pressure plate as there's no additional pressure when you push the clutch pedal down.  We can see the throwout bearing moving, but it doesn't seem to be hitting the fingers on the pressure plate or at least the fingers aren't pressing back.

So, we will put it on the lift and pull the driveshafts and slide the tranny and t-case back to inspect.  Any ideas of what the problem might be would be appreciated.

On my 1968 the pressure plate had three prongs with coil springs under them. If a spring or prong broke it could potentially cause something like this. I replaced it with a later style clutch/pressure plate that had the "pie wedge" spring system. Do you have any idea what kind of pressure plate Scott's truck has?

My guess is that it carries part # D7TZ 7563-B.  Meaning that it is probably original.  Remember, this truck won "Closest To Stock" at a show recently.

Okay, so if this eBay ad is correct it is the pie wedge design, 1977-1982.

I really do not know then.... but I'm interested in what you find!

Well, i didn't get the oil change done.
But I'm okay exceeding 6k given prior UOA's.

I did add a Ford style ball throttle stud to the 750 Holley.
Changed in the LRC regulator.
Spent a couple of hours going over my niece's new/old Land Rover Disco II.
So, fluids checked and filled, wash, wax and lots of back to black on the plastic.
Wiper blades for that damn thing are $28 a piece! (for nothing special)

I also replaced the blade lock on my cordless Sawzall and the cord and handle on my old demolition hammer.
Hung two doors, six drapes, three wall registers, a HUGE mirror, and installed a back splash.
Made time for a four year olds birthday party.
Cooked dinner and am looking forward to 2:30-3 am when it's time to do it all over again.

The stock E4OD crossmembers are offset to one side, just like the engines are. Mine has a dip and a special gusset on the right side to clear the double exhaust pipes. Left side is the standard angled gusset.

I've made lunch,  I'm on my second cup of coffee.

Going to go change my oil if I can beat the rain.
Then off to grout the back splash.
Help my friend find the phone he lost at the birthday party (battery is dead)
Later I will go up to New Canaan,  wire some outlets, hang some sheet rock,  corner bead and tape it.
Then off to Trumbull to repair a friends garage door & opener.

I'll find time to breathe tomorrow. (I hope)

Bill - So since the frames didn’t really change an E4OD crossmember from up to the mid-90’s will work. Right?  I not remember Darth’s donor but I’ll need to find one in a salvage.

Jim - That’s nasty oil!  But at that time of the morn I’d have it all over me. 🙁

Hope you get everything done today - your day sounds even more busy than mine.
