ArdWrknTrk
I think Jim uses stainless bolts. Yes, I have 316 bolts in my exhaust manifolds. The old ones had rusted to nubs you couldn't get a wrench on. A full kit of stainless engine bolts is available from various eBay sellers. I went for the non-polished ones. Be sure to say you are using cast manifolds, because bolts for a thin header flange will bottom. It was easier for me to just source those few exhaust bolts locally than return them and wait a week for new ones to get here.

The auto store is real proud of there bolts at 6 bucks a piece. I also found hardened flange bolts. If I recall right these are 5/16x18 or m8x1.25? FuzzFace2
I think Jim uses stainless bolts. Because I went with EFI exh. manifolds I used Dorman studs & nuts and reused the thick washers. If the bolts were loose I would try and just tighten them and see how it goes. Being y7ou will not have the tube anymore if the manifolds to head gasket needs to be replace even with the carb on you can replace the gasket. Yes been there done that but no shirt to show for it Dave ----

Kinda defeats the purpose, no? Pretty sure there are no metric threads on these engines. The chassis is a mix, but the driveline is all fractional. I’ve been internet shopping and we all know how that goes. I’m going to go to a few stores now so I can put the actual Bolts in my hand. And I was just as perplexed by the zinc coated stainless. I had hopes of driving this weekend but that’s quickly fading. Better to do it right the first time hence why I removed the intake and exhaust in the first place.
