WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

Recommended Posts

That company is so bass-ackwards it's rediculous.

Be glad they ditched the sales goal policy, I left there because they were terminating anybody who didn't meet sales goals four months in a row. My whole store was up for termination because our sales goals were 3x our actual sales and we were always in the yellow and red. I put my two weeks in on the last two weeks of my fourth period and left before they could terminate me. :nabble_smiley_angry:

Believe me when I say they still have all kinds of stupid policies. Right now they seem to be more worried about UPT than anything.

That was going on back in 2013-2014 as well. That and FIM's. But FIM's are pushed at all of the parts houses.

My manager was trying to do whatever he could to boost our sales and not lose our jobs, including marking down oil changes by $5 so that the $5 oil bundles were "free" to the customer. Same with the little packets on the grease racks at each register. It didn't take long for the other stores to see our numbers skyrocket and for them to start asking questions. It also didn't take long for corporate to see what was going on and after I transferred to another store to try and save myself, my old manager was given the option to leave on his own or receive a termination. I was told he said some colorful words about the district manager and the company as a whole on his way out. lol.

Changed the plugs and fan shroud this morning.

The plastic tabs had snapped off.

The plugs look good.

#2 may be burning a little oil by the spots on the ground electrode.

Those look great, Jim! Especially for the way you flog it. Sure isn't too rich.

The roads were dry and the sun shining, so I've been driving the truck quite a bit this weekend. Oh my does it feel good after being locked away all winter!!

The above pic is in a park behind one of our two shipping terminals. You can't really see them, but there are two containers ships in the background in various states of loading/unloading. The one further back is the CMA CGM Aquila, and she is a monster. It fits in what is now called the "New Panamax" size vessels. Just a few years ago, she was too big to even fit through the Panama Canal at 150 ft wide and 1200 ft long. At the time it would have been known as a "Post Panamax" sized vessel.

Here's a zoomed in pic of the stern...and you can see that it fits 18 containers across.

I then took a spin up and around the Citadel...and old fortress in the middle of the city.

The old truck is running like a champ, but I'm having starter issues and need to sort that out, and I'm still having vibration and wheel shake issues between 40-50 MPH. I must get that sorted out now that the good weather is arriving.

That IS a big ship. For sure! :nabble_smiley_scared:

But it is the truck I like. Sure looks good! :nabble_anim_claps:

And I'll bet you get both the starting and vibration issues sorted soon.

Shaun - I like it. But is everything going to be black?

No, it will be restored back to silver/chrome. I am debating going with Ranger XLT trim, so I bought this in order to have the option. I already have a very nice Ranger woodgrain radio bezel, so I will only need to remove the Ranger emblem and add this one if I choose to go Ranger XLT, which I probably will. :nabble_anim_crazy:

Truck is looking good Cory.

Black "RangerXLT" did not know they came in black?

Week or so ago I was given a red carpet from an auto truck. Buddy power washed it before I got it I then hung it up and beat the heck out of it to get a lot of dirt & sand out of it. I then used the Dyson pet vacuum on it and pulled a lot more dirt & sand out. It also rained a few times when sitting outside.

Today I beat it some more and vary little dirt & sand came out so I laid it out and washed it with a scrub brush and dish soap. A good rinse and hung it back up to drip dry.

I will not be installing it till I do the transmission swap sometime in April.

I then hit the garage and worked on cleaning the grease & dirt off the NP435 transmission.

Scraped the heavy stuff off with a putty knife then used a wire brush and air to get more of it off then a washing with some old left over gas I had from when I did the motor & transmission in the truck now.

Close up of the numbers / letters

There is a plate on the PTO side held on with 2 of the PTO bolts I forgot to get a picture of so I could find out what information it can give up.

After washing and a "VHT Rebuild" (paint job)

Note the strange shifter stick? I don't think I have seen one like it before?

The knob was glued on and I had to cut it off to get the boots off and prep it for paint. It is a pressed on knob so going to have to come up with something when the time comes.

I also think it come over to far to the left but will not know till installed in the truck.
