dirtymac
We are finally getting around to starting a project thread. Our plan is to link back to other threads we have found useful and threads we have created for more specific things. We have a 1982 F-250 HD with a 400 and C6 transmission that we purchased in July of 2023. In its former life it was one of a pair of farm trucks owned by a local farmer. We think he took pretty good care of it most of its life but in the past 10-20 years it didn't quite get the care it deserved. She came with 139,000 miles under her belt. We've done a lot to her since then and we will catch up on that later. Our main goal is for this to be a daily driver.
dirtymac
Our latest bit of work was to replace the after market air filter with most of a factory setup. We replaced the spark plugs and plug wires. We also cleaned up the valve covers a bit, gave them a fresh coat of paint, and replaced the valve cover gaskets. During all of that work we also removed the A/C compressor and hoses. Our next project is going to be getting the A/C working again. The coil and ignition harness are a work in progress.
ArdWrknTrk
Nice Will! You've already put a bunch of work into her, but I'm sure you add a little something to that list all the time. There's no reason your 250 shouldn't be as reliable as the day she rolled off the line.

But I don't recognize the A/C compressor. I would have thought that an 82 would have the York compressor like Dad's 81, but I've not been able to prove that in the catalog. Maybe the changeover was in 82?

At least not from the pictures I've seen. Also, the junkyard 82 we just scavanged did not have a York. I guess the switch was somewhere in between.
