  1. I got one for the old 86 at Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, I think LMC has them also.
  2. Very nice! Glad it works well. You could fashion a spoiler to put on the double sided tape!
  3. I used to disagree with this, but the older I get, the more I prefer to have the option, even if I don't use it often. It would be a deal breaker for me as well. Funny how that works! Same here, deal breaker. Also, I didn't necessarily want power windows and door locks on a truck. But, after having them, I want all the options!
  4. It's really sad how bad the parts situation has become.
  5. I used to own an 86 much like yours, however I had 3.55 gearing. I got a little over 11 MPG once, but it was flat land driving and 60 MPH and slower with no load. Running faster, like 70-80 especially with the 4.10's and she'll drink the gas. 460's are awesome engines, but have a drinking problem.
  6. Yes, the later models are deeper. I found one that matched the 86 interior I used to own for that reason. Edit: The mounting holes didn't line up IIRC, the two front did, but not the two rear. I like the 92 and up consoles better, I think Gary put one in his truck.
  7. OK, I haven't seen one either on a 460. Just thought I'd throw that in there for a reference or whatever. Interesting, must have not come to fruition for some reason.
  8. My Bronco has this. It's the teardrop looking piece on top.
  9. What a trip! Going to give your truck a work out.
  10. I'm sorry if I missed it Mat, what truck did your brother get?
  11. Awesome! This truck is going to be cool!
  12. I like that tool idea Gary! We had a tool for checking on aircraft piston engines. So I found this at Summit. Handy to have for that price. I know it would cost Rene a lot more to ship it there, but gives you an idea of what the tool looks like. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-900189 This is what I used on aircraft. Taped the degree wheel to the propeller spinner. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/timing_ind.php
  13. Interesting on the fan noise, I thought the 94 F250 with a 460 I owned had a bad fan clutch because I was told how noisy they were. It worked but was quieter than the 86 I used to own. One guy described them as a B17 propeller. First time it was real warm I heard that fan! And like you said, up to 35-40 MPH and it would quiet down. I assumed the super cooling had a bigger radiator.
  14. I've had a couple of slide in campers. I had a 1977 Western Wilderness with everything but a generator. It was heavy. Had it on a 1988 F250 and a 94 F250. I was always cutting back on things we brought, food, firewood, how much fresh water I put in it, etc. (Drove my wife crazy!) A pop up like Bob showed is great if you like those types. Or, if you can do without a wet bath that'll save weight. I like slide ins, but if I get another RV it will be a trailer. I've had one 19 foot conventional travel trailer, much easier weight wise and campground wise, as it's easier to unload. If I did get another slide in I would use Stable-Lift mounts. http://stablelift.com/
  15. I got one for the 86 F250 I used to own and the Bronco. I really like them, one thing I didn't know is my Bronco has super cooling. I don't know how else to find that. But I could have missed it. Also nice to see how many like vehicles had that paint, trim etc.
  16. That goes along with "it's an easy fix" or new breaks, it's got duel exhaust!
  17. https://klamath.craigslist.org/cto/d/klamath-falls-1982-f250-4x4/7602296919.html Seems reasonable.
  18. Well, it ended up being another direction entirely! I've already shared the back story about thinking about getting another truck and restoring my '97 F-250HD CCSB. I was thinking that might start late this summer. But then my son was in an accident. All of the people were fine, but his car was totaled. We loaned him my truck for a couple days so he could get to and from work. But he really needed something for more than a couple days as the insurance got worked out and he could then work through his options. So we decided maybe I should get that "another" truck sooner rather than later. Lesley vetoed the idea of a SuperCab. She (probably realistically!) doesn't have confidence that I'll get the restoration completed very quickly, and (definitely realistically) pointed out that we really need to have a truck now that we can put another couple of adults in, and possible soon would be able to put car seats in (both sons are fairly newly married, we're not in too big of a hurry for grandkids, but it'll probably happen). I had an '08 F-250 crew cab and an '02 F-350 crew cab. That was more than enough to convince me that I'll never own a Ford pickup newer than '97 again. And I don't like complicated controls (I refuse to have a vehicle where I need to take off my gloves to work a touch screen to adjust the HVAC). So some quick research and shopping landed a 2007 Dodge 2500 in my driveway! It's an automatic trans of course , and it's the 6.7L Cummins, which I think I'm going to think is a good thing. It's not perfect by any means, but I think it'll be a good bridge for the next several years, after which either I'll have restored my '97 or turned it into a pile of scrap metal and have bought another old Ford! Looks like a nice truck!
