300 Six Compression Ratio, Intakes, Heads, etc
1986F150Six replied to Gary Lewis's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Some have reported running a Clifford 2 X 4 intake manifold and with adapters, using a pair of 2 barrel carburetors. -
Jonathan [FordF834] has a Duraspark distributor [not HEI, though] which was sold and set-up by Performance Distrbutors in TN. It was used in my truck for years and is now providing reliable service for his truck. Gary, it is the one you worked with when "dialing in" my truck.

Good afternoon, everyone! I normally stay in the back ground [reading and learning] except for offering items, often NOS, which I find and share with fellow forum members. I now feel the need to share my thoughts for the health of OUR forum. We are a family and one which is rapidly growing. As such, we need to work to get to know each other and realize we all have talents and different personalities. Personalities can sometimes cause friction. I sense that this is happening within this thread and appeal to all to try our best to assist each other in a way that is most helpful and encouraging. All of us have value and we do not want to lose any. Hystrymkrs, I ask you to reconsider leaving the forum. From reading your posts, I know you are educated and write well and are willing to investigate, work and help others in the future. Perhaps I can assist with your current project in that I have a 1986 with 4.9L engine which has been modified regarding ignition. There are other options than have yet been discussed. Please let me know if you are interested. I hope all of you have a good rest of the day and I want to thank each of you for your valuable input and willingness to share. Gary, forgive me if I have overstepped in what I have posted.

Junkyard Musings and Questions...
1986F150Six replied to Rembrant's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
With Jonathan's input, I isolated the "8" lug by wrapping it with Teflon tape and installing a small [plumbing] rubber washer, before tightening the "nut". The printed circuit does not actually touch the lug... it is the "nut" that makes the connection. -

Maybe you can find something [plastic cutting board or scrap wood?] and drill a hole for the air filter hold down bolt to pass through. Just use the wing nut to pull this to the carburetor, to seal it. -

Junkyard Musings and Questions...

I thought that the instrument clusters were the same dimensions, but that the bezels were different, no? I believe you are correct, Cory. My terminology might not be the best. -

I don't know, Gary. I once thought so and thought about mounting a gauge, there. I believe Jonathan will have a definitive answer. -

Jonathan stated that the medium duty cluster does not work in the smaller trucks... and the shape is different where the steering column passes through. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-OEM-Ford-E4HZ-60044D70-A-Dash-Gauge-Cluster-Trim-Panel-1984-Ford-F600-F700/182905575930?epid=1154497271&hash=item2a960599fa:g:ny0AAOSwHNxaDg5J:rk:8:pf:0 https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Ford-1980-1986-Truck-Pickup-Dash-Bezel-F150-1981-1982-1983-1984-1985-nos/401430999136?epid=1227921734&hash=item5d7726f060:g:4KQAAOSwOyFZzAlQ -

The 4500 RPM tach is the one I have in my truck. The 3500 RPM is Diesel only. The instruments are interchangeable, but the cluster is shaped differently down where the steering column is. The door panels and dash pads look good. Don't forget the "A" pillar moldings as they are being sought by many. Since the gas one is automatic, you might want to look at the floor mat. If not worn, it might be a candidate for a swap into your truck? -

Have you tried using smoke to find a suspected vacuum leak? -
That is very neat!
