The shifter is like the one in my truck.

Well they shouldn’t be bad Gary I installed all new cables and all new grounds. Doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem, but I hadn’t even thought of them. I’m going to try a few things this week since it looks like I’m going to be working from home for a while. Cory, my engine is different, but it's recurved distributor is set @ 16 degrees BTDC. Before resetting the timing, when the engine resists starting [I assume you mean slow cranking speed], pull the ignition coil wire and then try to crank. If, suddenly, the engine spins faster [normal], then the issue is with the timing.

What would be interesting is if somebody ran a CarFax on it to see if it was ever registered. If it wasn't, then I'd say the test story might be legit. Still...with only 12 miles on the odo, it likely did sit forever...or at least the cab did. The firewall area is shiny clean, and look at things like the wiper motor and the exhaust heat shield...all look brand new. It certainly doesn't look like it was ever on the road...at least not in Michigan anyway...lol. Look at the brake and clutch pads... no wear.
