That is an interesting question. The bottom end of the engine is quite stout and when properly set up can do 5 - 6000 RPMs. But, a stock carbureted engine will absolutely run out of breath by approximately 3300 RPMs and anything above approximately 2800 RPMs is just making noise.

Is the oil level higher than expected? Take the dipstick and away from combustible materials, hold a lit match to the oil residue on the dipstick. If gasoline is present, it will ignite. [be careful!!!]

Just taking a guess... there are two flashing units. One, mounted on the back of the fuse panel, is for the emergency [hazard] flashers. The one on the front of the fuse panel controls the turn signals. Make certain the flashing unit [round] has not been dislodged.

Remember, on the six banger, turning the distributor CCW advances timing.
