  1. I couldn't find the obit. Glad you did. Wasn't familiar with Lewy Bodies, but read up on it. Awful! As is Parkinson's.
  2. For A/C trucks I believe the cable is part number E4TZ 19988-A. Perhaps you can find a new one. As for the shroud, here's the info from our page at Documentation/Cooling Systems/Shroud Part #'s:
  3. Yes, the amount of rust in that sock was amazing. And I sure wouldn't want it to go through my pump. At the price of a tank, around $100 for the pickups but unknown for the vans/campers, I would replace it if I could. Any rust that's in the tank probably came from the tank itself, so it is just a matter of time before you have a lot more.
  4. I saw this on Facebook and thought I ought to share it. I don't know any more than this.
  5. Well spotted, Jim. I missed that. So he gets 10 ounces and should get 32. No wonder it falls on its face. And you are right about wire colors. But don't miss that TSB 84-24-14 is for "1983-85 E350 CUT-AWAY MODELS", so the wiring and component locations should be correct. As for troubleshooting, some people put air pressure back through the line to blow the sock off. But I'd pull the sending unit and inspect the sock because I wouldn't want all of the "stuff" in the tank to be going through the pump. But, if the tank is full of "stuff" I'd probably pull the tank and replace it - assuming that the correct tank is available, and that would need to be determined.
  6. I don't know what #'s you should be getting, so I'll let Jim speak to that. But, for an overview of how the system works as well as some troubleshooting tips you should read TSB 84-24-14. It is on the tab named that on the page at Documentation/Fuel Systems/460 Fuel Systems.
  7. Congrat's! Can't wait to see pics!
  8. Here are some of the results from my site search for LRC. The first is from our 3G page in Documentation, but the next three are from the forum. Unfortunately it appears to take you to the page and not the post the results are in, so you have to do a Cntl F to find the post - or read. But, it is finding things in both the forum as well as the rest of the site. I tried Dad's Truck and it found 26 pages worth! So give it a try and see what you think, please.
  9. I like the two-tone plan. Maybe paint the ribs silver instead of clear-coating them?
  10. Ok, I've been playing with the search engines and I'm not too impressed. The Weebly one in the top right does drill down and find things that the Freefind, in the top left, doesn't. But, it doesn't support the ability to use quotes to force it to find specific phrases. Let me explain that with an example. If I search for LRC the Freefind search doesn't find it but the Weebly one does. Yippee! But, if I want to find load response control, which is what LRC stands for and is included on the same page, I'd put quotes around that phrase, like "load response control". However, I get lots of responses and it turns out that it found results for all three words, not just that phrase. With more research I've found that there is a feature for search engines where you can limit it to a specific URL. It is called "site", and I used this search: site:garysgaragemahal.com lrc. And that found lots of results on both the forum as well as in the rest of the web site. So, I'm now researching how to create a search function that incorporates the "site" limit. And it looks like that may be a possibility. The only downside is that the free version brings adverts, but there's a "paid" version that costs $5/1000 searches, so that may be a reasonable possibility.
  11. Dave - I just put slider vents on Big Blue, which is an A/C truck. Did it ‘cause everyone says they give a lot more air on cool days.

You may come to dislike that muffler, and I'd not change it before the trip. I went with the longest Magnaflows my shop could get and even they have a resonant spot at ~1800 RPM. On the plug wires, I don't have a favorite. Most of them are pretty good any more, but if I were buying I think I'd look at a name brand - like Motorcraft. As for the plugs, and I know the question wasn't to me, but I think #6 is too lean. I like to have some color on my plugs, and tan is preferable.
  13. Glad you found those issues and got them fixed. Man, that can really cause it to run badly. And I do like that grille.
  14. Weebly searches the web site, which means everything but the forum. (The forum is actually hosted on the Nabble web site and is just "embedded" on the Weebly site so it looks like it is actually on the site.) And it apparently searches it more thoroughly than the Freefind one does. But, there are confusing results with both, so I really need to sit down and test them more.
  15. Checking things off the to-do list is one of my favorite things to do!
  16. Jim - Are you suggesting that we have a search function that searches outside of the forum and the website? Jonathan - Before you dismiss the Weebly search I'd recommend you do some comparisons. I just learned something I didn't know - Freefind apparently doesn't search the whole of the web page and Weebly does. At least that's what it looks like to me. I searched for "LRC" using both Freefind and Weebly. Freefind said "No pages were found that match your query." But Weebly said it found LRC on the 3G Conversion page. At first blush I didn't see it, but by using the browser search function of Control F I was able to find two instances of LRC on the Choosing An Alternator tab. So apparently Freefind doesn't look on the various tabs but Weebly does.
  17. Thanks! And by the way folks, I got the LED replacements for the #912 bulbs in today. As shown above they look like miniature ping pong paddles. And, as it turns out the bed light uses a 912, so I'll be stuffing one in there as well.
  18. I'm running just a shut off valve on Big Blue. No tee. The bypass hose handles circulating the coolant before the 'stat opens. The only engine you shouldn't do that on is the 300 six as it doesn't have a bypass. To remove the nut on the alternator I use an impact and hold the pulley with a gloved hand. Pops the nut loose quickly and, so far, hasn't hurt.
  19. All of our tanks have E0, meaning 1980, or later prefixes on their part numbers. But a 1976 will have a 1970's prefix. In other words, they have different part numbers. And that means there's something different about them. What that is I don't know. But I doubt they are compatible.
  20. John - Thanks, but I found the correct Ford part number at Clips & Fasteners. Unfortunately the bottom of both of my door panels won't quite hold in like it should with them. However Scott had the same problem and found that the longer fastener in the Dorman 963-005D pack will work. Scott - Thanks! I ordered a pack from Amazon as it is easy and we are doing absolutely everything we can do to say away from other people with COVID running rampant. And I'm not in a big hurry to get them. Oddly enough Amazon and several others only show two pieces in the pack. They don't say there are only two, but they only picture two, even though we know there are six. Anyway, when they come in I'll measure them and, should they work, we can go find a better, cheaper source.
  21. I had whole leaves in there, which I doubt could get by the wipers. But I take your point, and I'll probably pull the duck bills one of these days.
