  1. You seemed to have Kickered the habit. I don’t remember what speakers I have, but need to document that as it is one of the last bits not written down yet. But the head unit is a Sony DSX-GS80. That’s got an “high-power” amp in it so there isn’t a separate amp. It is plenty loud but there’s just no bass.
  2. Good to know. Thanks. I'm following this as I'm going with an E4OD in Dad's truck.
  3. I'm hoping it'll be there when you get there, Chris. Enjoy!
  4. To the locals it is Stillwawa. Down where Steve/FoxFord33 and I went a couple of months ago to bring back the Mountaineer. Anyway, good to know that you like the Kicker. What other speakers do you have in the truck?
  5. Scott - I can't quite read the # on your sub, but Crutchfield is only showing two Hideaways: Kicker 46HS10 & Kicker 11HS8. Is yours one of those? Of course, you know where Kicker's headquarters are.
  6. Yes, I agree that size of speaker just doesn't give much bass. I've considered something like this JVC CW-DRA8 Compact powered subwoofer with 8" sub and 150-watt amp. My Sony head unit has sub outputs and controls, and it looks like there's room below the console.
  7. That's why I've not bothered with a kickdown lever. You can always pull it down via the shift lever and it doesn't make a difference until close to WOT, so why bother?
  8. Good progress. But the kickdown lever only is part of the equation at WOT. Otherwise it makes no difference.
  9. Congratulations!! Well deserved as your truck looks great.
  10. Dude, I spent nearly 20 minutes looking for my glasses this morning after I went to the bathroom earlier. I don't even know why I took them off! They were unfolded, sitting on my couch. Once I pass through a doorway, my brain resets it's volatile memory. It's so stupid. It's definitely the ADHD. My digital calipers NEVER leave the shop, but they've disappeared, somehow. Hard to believe as careful as I've been with them. But I'm not sure forgetting what you went for when you go through a door has anything to do with ADHD. I'm pretty sure I don't have that, but frequently back through the door to remember why I went there. Doesn't always work, but usually. As for the tool for the knobs, I used it the other day and it worked perfectly. The U is the right size to go up against the center of the knob and hit the spring. Pointy things tend to go between the spring and the center. And Allen wrenches don't always push the spring far enough to release it before hitting the bottom of the cutout on the knob.
  11. Good tips, Larry. Thanks. Glad you got the door back on.
  12. Wow! That should make a BIG difference! Let us know how you like it.
  13. Alan - You are on the list. Thanks a bunch. Once we get the decision back from the lawyer then we'll know which way to go.
  14. Chris - This is going out today: Servo: I can't test this one as I don't have a way to do so, but it does pull in with vacuum and doesn't appear to leak. And you can see how the cable goes on, with the bullet on the end of the cable going into that clip in the middle. Amplifier: I know this one works as it has the hole I drilled in the case, circled in red, in order to get to the potentiometer to adjust it. That pot determines how close to the current speed the set point will be when you hit Set. I have one that I've written on that says "Jumps 6 MPH", which means it works but is no fun. This one was adjusted to pick up ~1 MPH on Big Blue, but it may be different on your truck so you may want to adjust it. Pickup: This one is from Dad's truck so I know it worked as I used it a bunch. (Don't worry as I'm going with one of the tranny-mounted units when I build Dad's truck.) Relay: I thought about not sending a relay, but having re-read this post where I tried a standard Bosch relay and found that the speed control didn't work I decided you might need this. It is also from Dad's truck so I know it works. But I couldn't find another one, although I should have one, so don't let it get away if you don't need it.
  15. Good point, Bob. And since that refers to Pg 64 for info on the Trailer Towing Package I've included it below in a jpg form and a downloadable pdf for that page: F-Series_Pg_64.pdf
  16. Phillipp - I'm happy to help, and it felt like it was meant to be when I found that info yesterday. As for your questions: As for South Carolina, where? Our daughter & family lives in Charleston, so we will be there a few times a year. Maybe we can meet.
  17. I think you are looking for these: F100/150 - - 2/W/D Type 4 D7TZ 1130—K 7 1/8" diameter-black w/red center ornament for styled wheels
  18. Ok, I think I found the holy grail. I have a book called the 1984 Light Truck Data Book, with the cover shown below, which is a Ford publication for their dealers. In it there's a section called F-Series and within that there are several pages on towing. You can download those pages in the link below, but the pertinent info is on Page 66, which is shown below to make it easy for you. And what I see is that your max trailer weight is 5500 lbs with a 5.0L & an AOD, regardless of the axle ratio. If you need any other pages from that document please let me know. 1984_Trailer_Towing.pdf
  19. Well, we may not NEED to change. If the lawyer comes back and says we don't qualify as a 501C7 then we don't have to have an official name. But, if we are ever to change then when we cut over to InVision would seem like the time. So since we don't yet have a definitive answer from the lawyer I've not posted a new poll on the name. Let's wait and see on that. And we can add something about garysgaragemahal if y'all () want. But, as background, when I built my shop someone in the family called it the garagemahal. And since it was built using some significant insulating techniques my daughter suggested that I capture how it was built on a website. Back then Apple had an easy way to create websites and she helped me document how the shop was built - using the URL garysgaragemahal.com. Apple discontinued websites, but by then I'd added several things to my website and didn't want to lose it, so I found Weebly and recreated the website. Meanwhile I grew tired of answering the same questions over and over again on FTE so started documenting the answers to the frequently asked questions via FTE's photo album feature. Then IB, the host of FTE, made a change in the way albums were managed and that broke my documentation. So after contacting IB and getting nowhere I used my new website to recreate the documentation - and discovered that a true website is FAR superior for documenting things than a forum. But then IB changed other things that caused me problems and I discovered that via Nabble I could have a forum for free. So several of us decided it was worth a try and here we are. As of today we have 2138 members, but recently we've been growing by 2 - 3 per day. So with Franklin making noises about shutting Nabble down and the ~7 years of good history we've compiled it is time to take this thing to some where that will provide a stable platform for the future. That's the background on garysgaragemahal. It was, as Jon noted, a pun. Or, maybe as my father would have said, 2/3 of a pun - PU.
  20. Phillipp - I understand your problem. I'm really surprised that the 1984 nor 1983 owner guides don't have the detail in the trailer towing sections like the later ones do. I'd never looked at that. Bummer! As for the 1981 info, I didn't realize that I'd only put the F100 info on the Towing page. But, if you go to Library in the menu at the top and then click on the 1981 owner guide you'll get the whole guide and it has info on the F150. Specifically, on Pg 102 you'll see that a Regular Cab F150 4x2 with a 302 can tow up to 3500 lbs given the right equipment, like a load distributing hitch and sway bars front and rear. But on Pg 103 it says that the same truck is not rated to tow 3500+ lbs. But, that's not 1984. So this afternoon, after church, I'll look through the 1984 Dealer Facts Book and see if I can come up with information specific to your 1984 truck. On the add-on question 1, that is from Ford's 1980 - 89 Master Parts Catalog, and Page 37 through 41 of the General Information Section. I've converted Pg 37 into a PDF and you can download it from the link below. FPS-8472-A_Pg_37.pdf As for add on question #2, what page are you asking about in the 1986 owner guide?
  21. Again, we have PROGRESS! And I agree with your assessment on the cause of weird electrical issues, especially on a trailer - grounds. Glad you found it and got it fixed.
