  1. You should look at the page at Bullnose Forum/Forum FAQ's on how to post a pic. But here's your pic. And the thing the arrow is pointing to is the speed control, aka cruise control. It's cable to the throttle can be disconnected until you get the problem sorted.
  2. Progress! I haven't used speed bleeders, but at ~$15/pair from what I see online they'd be well worth it. However, you said your castings are quite rough. Did the speed bleeders not suck air around the threads? I see that they appear to have some form of thread sealer, so does that really work?
  3. It is easy to spend more money on refurbishing an old tank than buying a new one. I think you chose wisely.
  4. The page shows who uploaded the files: So it has been almost a year and they've not been taken down. And, I don't think they will because there aren't any identifying things on the pages that I can see that tell who's CD it is that he uploaded. However, to put those pages up there is legally questionable. I hired an intellectual property lawyer about a year ago to discuss what I can, can't, and probably shouldn't do on the website. And hosting large documents like the MPC for people to download fell into the "probably shouldn't" category. The issue is that Ford licensed people to scan and sell the document, so buying one of their CD's and then making the file available to everyone at no cost would probably be illegal. And I'm staying away from anything that looks like it might not be appropriate. As for being "actively sold", both HiPo Parts and Forel Publishing sell them through various outlets. That is probably a HiPo version as Forel puts a watermark on theirs and this doesn't have that.
  5. You could easily make a tab to hold the computer in place. I actually found a third (now second with your purchase) one on Ebay. None of the three seem to have a retaining bracket, which is strange. It can't be anything too significant if none of those sellers included it. I'm thinking it's just a small tab, but I just can't recall since I tore that truck apart three years ago now. I'm guessing that there's a tab or something that holds the computer in since three out of three don't have anything extra. And, as I think about it, the listing in the MPC doesn't show anything extra either.
  6. Interesting! I wasn't aware that anyone had the MPC available for download free, so I'm pretty sure you didn't find the links here. But that is a great find and we need to document that. Let me think about how best to do it. But are those OCR'd as the name implies? If so that is wonderful. Yes, my copy of the two documents have been OCR'd, which makes things MUCH easier. And as Jim said, your description of how to use it is spot on. Find the generic part number and then find the specific.
  7. Man, look at the traction those tires have! Seriously though, they are good looking tires. I may go for some like them. Mark - Well done on the engine, carb, and wiring.
  8. David - That one you found today is now on its way to Skiatook. Thanks! For $23 inc shipping I couldn't go wrong. Shaun - Thanks. That pic seems to go with the illustration you found. I really don't know how the computer is held in, but I guess we will find out. John - The bracket I made would do a great job holding the 'puter in, but getting it welded to the dash brace in exactly the right position looks like an exercise in futility. As for finding a factory one, if the one that David found works well then I'll need to find another for Dad's truck. But David has found two, and Shaun threw one away, so apparently they are out there.
  9. Sounds like a good plan. And if you need to replace the rotors or drums you don’t have to get into the hydraulic system.
  10. Ok, sounds like you know what you are doing.
  11. You are really having "fun" with this project. Sorry! On the master, I think you got one for an HD truck and yours isn't, or vice versa as that's about the difference in the bolt patterns. As for the bleeding, that's where the later master comes into play as you can put a cap on with a fitting and give the system 3-5 psi of pressure and go bleed the system. But I'm not sure that little bit of pressure would be enough to punch through the gunk in the system. Still, it would be worth a try.
  12. Yes! Where did you find that? It appears to have the computer running left/right as that tab looks like it goes to the speed control amplifier's mounting point. Right?
  13. Yuk! That's awful! But no wonder the gauge didn't work. But you aren't replacing the tank?
  14. Actually, I'm going to pause this project right here as we have other things going on for the moment. Perhaps in the interim someone will say they have a bracket & retainer I can buy? That would make this cleaner & easier. Anyone? Do you have a complete bracket and strap/retainer for the ECU that mounts under the dash? From the snippet above I think that would be E5TZ 12A659-A. Right? If so it'll be marked either E5TE-12A659-AA or E6TF-12A659-AA.

  16. I think when you get everything together and apply the brakes hydraulically the parking brake will work well. It takes a lot of force and some wearing-in to get the shoes touching all the way around. The parking brake on Big Blue is binary - it is either on or off. There's nothing in between. When I first got the winch I was supposed to wind the cable up the first time under tension. So I set Blue at one end of the driveway and Big Blue at the other end. Ran the cable out to Blue's trailer hitch, set Blue's park brake, and went back to Big Blue to set the park brake "a little bit". There was no "little bit". Just a bit and the wheels lock and Blue came sliding to me. In other words, the park brake on these trucks can work very well. And I'll bet that yours does after you get the shoes to take a set and wear in.
  17. Nice truck! And nicely posted.
  18. Yep, BB is a 3/4 ton and no one is going to be rocked to sleep in it. You might be interested in this thread: Best Shock For The Money. In it I explained what I think of the Bilsteins.
  19. I put Monroes on Dad's truck and really liked them. In fact, we also put a set on the Subaru we had and really liked them there. But Big Blue came with Bilsteins and when I needed to replace the fronts due to the solid axle swap I put another pair of them on.
  20. Thanks, Dane. I hope to get it attached to the dash brace tomorrow. We shall see.
