  1. Welcome! What part of the country is home? What are the plans for the Flareside? Still going to be 4wd? What engine and tranny? It'll be a fun project in any event. Parts man, huh? Just had a retired one of those staying with me over the weekend, and I think he's coming back tomorrow. He brought me the microfiche for several versions of the catalog, as well as a viewer, but I can't find the TSB's so he may come back and show me where they are. 😉
  2. Nice truck but, as you said, not worth what they are asking. However, it would be fun to fix up. 🙈
  3. These carbs were very consistent in their gaskets, needles and seats, power valves, etc. So I think that kit will work.
  4. I know the early trucks, like through '81 at least, didn't have a clutch lockout switch, so it would be possible that the autos didn't have an NSS. And while I said Dad's did, I'm not sure that is correct. As Jim pointed out, if you can't turn the key it shouldn't be able to start.
  5. Since I know what the names are for the SEM paints that match the interior colors I will use it. I have before and it has worked well for me. Perhaps Colorbond is better, but I'm not willing to experiment to find an acceptable color.
  6. I was looking at their interior paints and didn't find them for either of my trucks. But SEM has them, although they aren't off-the-shelf.
  7. David - Thanks. But I was happy to do it. And thanks to all of you who came. 👍 Jonathan - Wow! Thanks for all of the pictures! I really appreciate you getting those as I've been kicking myself that I didn't. Maybe you can zip them and email them to me so I'll have them in the best format for creating the page on the website.
  8. I tried to give one of those away at the show/swap meet on Saturday. No takers, so apparently everyone here has already done that. 😉 Anyway, it is necessary. 👍
  9. Don't miss Page 31 saying C128 is a gray connector near the dual brake warning switch and that it had 18 connections - which seems a lot more than I remember.
  10. Does SEM have the color for your LeBaron, Bill? They do for my trucks.
  11. Duh! If that's what Pete meant then . Yes, my media-blast cabinet does use a bit of air. And powder-coating, and I'm sure painting, needs a properly-prepared surface that really requires media blasting to achieve.
  12. It doesn't appear that Colobond has the colors for our trucks. Big Blue has an A9B Regatta Blue interior, but they only have two Ford blues, as shown below. And those are apparently exterior colors because if you click either of the two Interior boxes along with Blue and Ford all paints go away. Am I doing something incorrectly?
  13. I'm curious - would it be the weight, or RPM, or what that would keep battery-powered tools from working for you?
  14. Roger - There does seem to be an omission in the 1981 EVTM, but the 1986 EVTM does show the NSS on Page 30 in the Start & Ignition section. Better yet, on Page 35 you can see where C128 is along the side of the driver's side frame. I'm pretty sure the 81's had an NSS as Dad's truck did/does and so did Rusty, and both are 81's. So I don't know why it doesn't show in the EVTM. The only thing to watch out for is that in '81 Ford used hash marks and dots on some of the wires, but in 1986 they replaced those with stripes.
  15. Roger - Welcome! Glad you are here, with or without a Bullnose. And I understand the too-many-projects syndrome. 🙈
  16. I'll give it a try when the time comes. Thanks. Do you have a chart for their products? Or does one exist that I could put on in addition to SEM's?
  17. I know guys that swear by Peel N Seal for sound deadening, and those who swear at it. Was just curious what product you like. As for coloring plastics and vinyl, I've used SEM and like it. And, since they have the colors for these trucks, many of us tend to use their stuff: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/interior-paint.html
  18. Welcome, Bob! If being concise is a requirement of being on here then I'll be the first one to leave. In fact, I appreciate the info that everyone is sharing, which makes me think I need to review my one "introduction". And owning an 80 - 86 truck isn't a requirement to be on here, either. I own enough of them to make up for several who don't, so it all averages out. Anyway, I'm glad you are here! Thanks for joining.
  19. Well, the 2017 Garagemahal Ford Truck Show is history. . As explained in the Picture Gallery post, we had 15 trucks and 48 ballots turned in, which means we had a good number of visitors. Things went pretty much as planned, but there's always room for improvement, so I've polled a number of people who were there and got the following. But if anyone has further suggestions let's get them recorded here for next year's show. Advertise in some of the publications, like Hemmings and some of the for-sale ones, which have some free sections. Advertise in the for-sale on-line things, like Brandon did, but earlier. Advertise on more of the Facebook groups, like FTE and Big Block if the allow it. Have several people, with very visible vests or t-shirts w/a Garagemahal show logo on them, registering trucks, showing people where to park, handing out ballot blanks, etc. Shade! An awning with chairs and maybe with a fan and a mister. A place to gather and talk. Bring at least some of the food/drink sales outside, like the drinks. Under an awning. Get it more organized, or more organized looking. Perhaps put trucks around the outside rather than hodgepodge in the center. And put the trucks that are expected to be there for the whole of the show close to the street so people driving by can see them. Have a Registrar that signs people in. S/he would have a vest/t-shirt and be "official", and would have the vehicles that weren't for show park in the West lot. Make it 10 to 2, not 4! Have a layout board showing where things are Use colored cones designating areas for eras of trucks Have a megaphone to get people's attention for things, like the trophy presentations Take more pictures, especially of the trucks. Probably ought to have a designated photographer for that.
  20. Ok, sounds like a plan. What do you use for sound deadening? And what do upyou use for painting vinyl or plastic trim?
  21. Welcome Pete! Good to "meet" you. It sounds like you are a master of many things. Wow! You'll be able to help a lot of us. Thanks for joining and introducing yourself.
  22. The 2017 Garagemahal Truck Show & Swap Meet was held on September 16th, and it was a success. In spite of it being the first year we had 15 trucks entered and 48 ballots were turned in, so we had a good turnout. The winners were: Best Paint: Terry Shreve from Barnsdall, OK with his red & white 1965 F100 Best Engine: Terry Shreve's 428 in his '65 F100 Closest To Stock (pre-2000): Scott Ringer from Skiatook, OK with his 1978 F150 Best Upgrades: Tim White from Skiatook, OK with his 1970 Bronco People's Favorite: Tim White's 1970 Bronco Farthest Driven: Ben Bluhm drove 121 miles from Choctaw, OK in his 1985 F350 Here are pics of some of the winners getting awards. In this one Scott is getting his Closest To Stock award: Here's Tim White getting one of his awards: And here's Ben Bluhm getting his award: Speaking of the Bluhms, here are their '97 & '85 F350's: And here is Jim Braxtan's 1968 F250: Mike Carr had a very stock 1985 F150, which included this wiring cover that is rarely seen today: Last, here are some shots of the trucks from various angles. In this first one you can see Terry Shreve's red & white 1965 F100, which won Best Paint and Best Engine. And in the next two shots you can see Tim White's Grabber Blue 1970 Bronco, which won Best Upgrades and People's Favorite. And, you can see Scott Ringler's 1978 F150 basically dead-center in the first shot.
  23. Pete - How 'bout showing us a pic or two of the grille itself? We talked about them at the get-together this weekend and no one remembered them. Are there any #'s on the back?
  24. I think they did come with insulation. But I'm not sure that they all had the same amount of insulation. Haven't been to Charlotte, but have been to Carlisle several times when we lived in SE PA. But, those trips were for Chryslers at Carlisle as I also have a '69 Bee.
