  1. I think a factor pump goes to maybe 7 psi, which is more than an Eddy likes, which is a max of 6 psi. But, before you worry about that let me check the factory shop manual later this morning. And, don't you have a fuel pressure regulator on the Bronco? In any event, I'm pretty sure that a stock pump will feed that engine just fine. The design for the pump is the same as for the 460.
  2. Yup, today we have a chance of rain and Grove, where I'm headed, has an even higher chance. But tomorrow is to be clear and dry. And my buddy has a tractor so he can pull the vehicles within reach of my 100' of winch line, 25' of chain, and 20' of retrieval line - plus probably 100' of ratchet straps of various sizes. However, I understand what you are saying about cleanup. Back in the early 90's we had a Toyota Previa van with AWD. Took it out in the mud and it was unstoppable. And then the cleanup started. I spent many dollars in quarters at the car wash and left the place a mess. Then, when we got home a couple of days later I went under and spent a day breaking the mud out of places I couldn't believe it could get. So, while I'm in Tractor Supply today getting the air tank I'll look at their chain.
  3. It is a beautiful part of the world. Our first trip to the Continent was when we lived in England. Flew into Basel and drove a big circle: Piz Gloria; Grindelwald; Salzburg; Berchtesgaden & Obersalzburg; Fussen & a couple of next-door castles; Lichtenstein; The Black Forest (bought a clock); and back to Basel. Absolutely stunning. So, what's the news about the truck?
  4. Ok, got the headlights adjusted, so Big Blue is ready for the trip. But we moved it to Wednesday due to weather, so tomorrow I load up.
  5. Spent most of the day trying to resurrect an old air tank my brother gave me. Thought I had it nailed after I tapped and plugged every orifice on it, but it was sitting at 125 PSI at 5:00 and is now down to 80 PSI 4 hours later. Just looked and Tractor Supply has one on sale for $20. Think I'll pick that one up when I'm out tomorrow. But, I did adjust the headlights tonight and they work great. But we put the trip off until Wednesday due to weather, so tomorrow I can finish getting the tools ready, gas the truck and the two 5 gallon containers I'm taking up, and get everything loaded.
  6. Yes a 16 gauge fusible link. That should be what is bad as it is at least one if not two sizes smaller than the rest of the wiring harness and is designed to fail there. But, it isn't just smaller wire. It has a flame-proof insulation that won't melt off when it gets really hot. So go find some 16 ga fuse link and replace the one that is burned.
  7. The problem is that there's no power to anything except the headlamps and dome light. The heater blower has no power. So the test won't work. Other ideas, possibly? I understand that nothing runs. But, if there is 12.4v at the tail end, meaning closest to the cab, of Fuse Link I then we have to figure out what is going on. One possibility is that you get 12.4v on your meter when everything is turned off. But, if you try to power something then that voltage goes away. So, have you tried to test the voltage while the key is on and the blower is turned on? If not, please try. If you have, then you need to check the yellow wire going into the ignition switch. See if it has the 12.4v - both with the switch off and with it on.
  8. Circuit 37, as shown on the previous link, feeds the two parts of the ignition switch shown on Page 16. So, if the fuse link is bad then none of those things would work. But, it is possible for the fuse link to be bad but still show 12v if you don't have anything turned on. It could have a really poor connection internally such that it won't run anything but still give a decent reading when the ignition switch is off. So put your volt meter on and then turn the key on and see if anything like the heater works and what the voltage does.
  9. That being the case, they both look to be way off. But it is hard to believe they can both be that far off and yet so close together. Can you pull one of them and take it inside to check it at a much warmer temp?
  10. You still need Bill, but at -5C it looks like the ECT should have been about 70k ohms instead of 124k. That's way out of range, but I don't think it would cause a huge problem since all that tells the computer is that it is REALLY cold out - like about -50 C. But the engine should still start and run. The real question is what the ECT resistance is when the coolant is up around 80 degrees C or 180 F. But I don't see an ACT scale, so I don't know what to say about that. Perhaps Bill can enlighten us.
  11. I checked all of the fuse links after things got toasted. All are showing 12.4 volts downstream of the fuse links. I have since replaced the cause of the barbecue (the ignition switch). Since all fuse links are good (I will double check but I did check them all before) what is the next step? I'm confused - even fuse link I is good? If they are all good and you've replaced the culprit then proceed on with trying to start it?
  12. Yes, if you have voltage downstream then it must be good. But remember to fix whatever shorted before you replace the fuse link. You can buy fuse wire at many parts stores.
  13. Fig 1 on Page 20 is looking at the passenger's side fender, and is not for an aux battery, which would be on the driver's side. And, Fuse Link M is for all vehicles in 1986 as they appear to have included an ammeter on all of them. For 1985 the EVTM shows that it is called Fuse Link I for vehicles that have a warning light. But it is the same circuit #37 with an orange 16 gauge link (the 1986 is a green 14 gauge) that goes from the starter relay back to the yellow wire going to the ignition switch.
  14. Look at Page 20 Figure 1. Granted that's for the diesel, but I'm pretty sure that M was in the same place for a diesel as a gasser.
  15. Ouch! That's gonna be a problem. First, you will need to acquaint yourself with this section of the EVTM: Electrical/EVTM/1986 EVTM/Charge & Power Distribution. There you'll see several fuse links, one or more of which is probably fried. You can usually tell a fried fuse link because when you pull on it the wire is gone inside and the insulation will stretch. Fuse Link L feeds the headlights so it must be good. But Fuse Link M feeds the ignition switch and that is the likely culprit.
  16. Thanks. You might check to see that the search function can find obscure things but doesn't return things you don't think it should. We probably still have tuning to do that will exclude the things we don't want to see, so I need input on that. And don't forget that placing quotes around things in theory forces it to find exactly that and nothing else. But w/o the quotes it'll find the words in the search string anywhere in the post/page. So you can try the search in differing ways to see how it responds.
  17. And, after a bit more tuning the pages indexed are down from 1782 to 1284. And, the search results are now more concise w/o the pages for people's profiles and other unnecessary returns. But, I'd like to hear (see?) from y'all on this. If I go too far it won't find what you are looking for, so there's a balance. Please let me know if it is working for you.
  18. Time for an update on the search function. First, I've not gotten any feedback on it, so I'm guessing you haven't tried it. Please do and let me know how you like it. And, let me know what nuisance results you get. I ask that because I've been working with the Freefind folks to get it to work correctly. Initially it wasn't finding everything and they had to increase the size of our storage to handle something like 2400 pages so it could index (search) the whole site. Once we had it indexing the whole site we realized that it was finding things we don't care about, including the three possible views, meaning classic, threaded, and list. Who wants to see three different views of the same results in a search? So we cut out threaded and list views. Similarly it was finding other odd things, like the pages that show all of the threads each of us have commented on. No! I just want to see the actual post that has the term for which I'm searching!!! The last index had gotten it down to 1782 pages from ~2400, so we are making progress. But, I'd really like to know what you find and how it is working for you as we still have tuning to do.
  19. Dave - Getting the truck down on all fours is a major milestone in my book. I'm hoping to get Dad's truck there this Spring, so I understand. The parts look great, and I can't wait to see the truck sitting normal again. As for me and my trucks, I slacked off and didn't go out into the cold and adjust the headlights. But have to do that tonight, for sure.
  20. I agree - decent price. Hope you are the one that bought them. But, check the fuse.
