  1. Yes, it appears to follow the speedo cable. And here’s how it is supposed to work. Sideways again, in spite of my efforts to prevent that. 😩
  2. Here’s the illustration from the EVTM’s: (Sorry for the orientation, but you get the picture. 😎)
  3. Yep. That's what the star means - the earlier one is no longer available, so they had to go with the later one. Don't know the difference, but there must be a difference.
  4. In the vein of Carnac the Magnificent: The answer is "Nothing known to man." Tearing open the envelope (parts catalog), it turns out the question is "What is part number E2TZ-10422B35-A." There's an E2TZ 10422B30-A, but no where in the catalog is there a 10422B35-A, much less that with E2TZ in front of it. I suspect it is actually this, but caveat emptor, I do not know that and would not buy that part for that money expecting it to be so.
  5. Unfortunately that is not E2TZ 10422B30-A. That number is a sliding back glass kit. (Yes, Virginia, there apparently was a power back window.) And that's not a sliding glass. It may well be the right non-sliding back glass, but there's no way to tell for sure unless there are numbers on it somewhere. In any event, it is the wrong thing in the right box.
  6. Oh, the joys of having a catalog that got altered over time. Notice that E3TZ 8200-G is correct only for 1983-86 trucks. But, it replaced E3TZ 8150-F, which shows to have been the 1982 chrome grille. However, it wasn't the original chrome grille in 1982 - not with a 1983 engineering number of E3. Obviously the catalog was altered at some point, which I could prove if I wanted to by firing up the "microfiche tower" - which I don't want to do.
  7. That would fall in line with the fact that my son's 1984 with manual OD and fuel saver package [2.47 rear gears and front air dam] has the bezel for upshift indicator, but no wiring. David - I'm not sure if that is consistent or not. The MPC says 1983 only, which fits with Daniel's 1984 truck having the bezel but not the wiring nor, presumably, the switch. But I know the MPC has errors, like the one I just caught regarding the radiator brackets. However, the 1984 and 1985 EVTM's show that those trucks should have the wiring since they both show the up-shift indicator wiring. And yet the 1983 EVTM doesn't show the wiring. The clues aren't consistent. Perhaps the up-shift indicator did come out in '83 as the MPC says, but the '83 EVTM was published too early for that to be included. And to support that theory, my '83 EVTM was copyrighted in 1982. (My '87 EVTM was copyrighted in 1987, and it is the only other one of my EVTM's to give a copyright date.) But why do the '84 and '85 EVTM's still show the circuitry when Daniel's '84, which fits the MPC's criteria for having the switch and, one would think, the circuitry, doesn't have it. Or, might his truck have the switch and not the wiring? Is that something you could check? And, are you ok with me documenting his truck as not having the wiring (and switch)? I'd like to capture what we can find on this issue, including build date and manufacturing plant.
  8. Ray - It does sound like it is a long journey. But it'll be a fun and interesting trip. Keep us posted. () David - Good one!
  9. Yes, it is. Oddly enough, the parts catalog says it is correct for 1980 on, as shown below: My catalog now says:
  10. The 1986 brochure says the engines were: 4.9L, 5.0L EFI; 5.8L HO, which has the Holley 4bbl; 7.5L 460 w/a Holley 4bbl; 6.9L diesel. And that upper plenum on that engine says 5.8L EFI, and that didn't happen until well after the Bullnose era - but I don't know when.
  11. Yeah, the '80 with an '82-'86 grille is jarring. But, it isn't for sale.
  12. Wow, you really have the equipment! That should make the floor a piece of cake. But, getting the design nailed down (pun intended), is key. And that design looks good. When do you start making chips?
  13. Did a bit more on the Y2Y differences page: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/year-to-year-differences.html. Take a look at what I'm doing and see what you think. And, look at what I found on the up-shift indicator on the Electrical tab.
  14. Just FYI, this forum only started in August of last year - 2017. So you didn't miss us very long.
  15. Now I need to do the same to a few of the recent doc's that I've added in high res mode, only. I've added the low res/high res function to both the 1985 Ford Truck and the 1986 Ford Trailer Towing brochures. And, I discovered that some of my pdf's were showing poor quality renderings, so I replaced them. I'm sure there are probably others, so if you find one that looks really yukky then please let me know.
  16. Maybe so. But the last time I needed a t-case rebuilt I was knee-deep in other alligators. So I farmed it out and saved a lot of time.
  17. While waiting for Jonathan to reply you might read his writeup in Interior/Salvaging Rosewood. (Yeah, with that title you might not expect it to include a long discussion about the silver trim, but it does. ) I think that'll do what you want, but you may have questions for Jonathan. Anyway, well spotted!
  18. Will that be a 19, 32, or 38 gallon tank? The 19 would be stock, 32 would be a Bronco, and 38 would be an aftermarket that will fit.
  19. It kinda resembles a Sag, but I didn't think it was quite the same. That adjustment sounds neat. And extra distance from the exhaust is a big help.
  20. I took a picture of the "dirty" TDI VW's at the junkyard last week. They were bringing them in by the truck load and they were all getting lined up for the crusher. Mostly 2009-2012 models, and some of them looked perfectly fine too. Apparently they had a rep from VW there to witness them being crushed to make sure nobody removed any parts from them beforehand. I'm still driving an 06 BRM Jetta, so I don't have to worry about the emissions scandal, but still...I hate seeing all those cars go for scrap. So much information! Ok, to start off, the GLK handled the rear impact admirably, and the more-believable of the two estimates is $2600, but that's before they get it apart and we all know it'll go up when they do. However, two days after the rear-ending a kid opened a car door into the driver's fender - and the estimate on that is $1400. We love the car so much that there's no thought of trading it. Nor is there an issue of emissions since it actually produces fewer of them than today's gasoline engines. So it is a keeper and we are keeping it well maintained. As for the carbon removal technology, that was an interesting video. I wasn't aware that they are doing that. And, while the article suggested that relying on that technology would be foolhardy, I can see that developing it would be a good approach - while still mandating the change necessary to reduce CO2 emissions.
  21. Congrat's!!! Glad the info helped and that you got the spring quickly. The t-case looks good. I've not attempted one of those, but I've done manual transmissions so perhaps I could. However, 120 needle bearings does sound like a pain. Glad you found them all. And the strip magnet is a good idea. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Ok, that was my hope. Thanks. I've added this disclaimer at the top: Now I need to do the same to a few of the recent doc's that I've added in high res mode, only.
  23. I thought the lettering on the EFI intake looked like Bricknose era... I mean, it's supposed to be carbed. The EFI'd 5.8L didn't happen until well after the Bullnose era ended. And that's a 3G alternator, which happened in the 90's.
  24. It took 10ish seconds for David, and 20ish seconds for grumpin. Was that just opening the page the first time? Or was that opening the High Res tab?
