  1. Also, I added a page for dome and cargo lamp info: Electrical/Lighting/Dome and Cargo Lamps.
  2. Bummer! That's awful. First, I doubt that there's much if any oil in the coolant. It looks like it is all one type of fluid, and since water and oil don't mix, .... As for the next step, I think you are right that you'll have to pull the tranny and see what's back there. Maybe I'm wrong about there being a soft plug in the cooling system back there. I actually hope so. But since you have the dye in you should find out. Hang in there, brother. It has to be VERY frustrating. But, this is a hobby so even the frustrations should be some sort of perverted fun. (I'm preaching to myself.)
  3. That's really good progress, Bill. How many wires are going to have to be extended? Will you get the same color wire, or extend in the middle so the ends have the right colors? Two-wire horns? I'd not heard of that, but I guess it is really needed on vehicles with composite panels. But, why on a PT Cruiser? On the hoses coming through the radiator support, is there a need for protection for them?
  4. Well, I finally got the pics uploaded: Bullnose Forum/Ford Truck Show and the 2018 tab. Something like 245 of them, down from over 300 initially. The issue is that there are soooo many pics from 4 different sources. I had hoped to get pics of the same truck together, pics of the awards cermony together, etc. But that was just way too much work. So I hope this works for y'all.
  5. You can't, only I can. And have. You are, as they say, literally on the map: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/members-map.html
  6. Cool! I couldn't live w/o my lift. Glad you got yours up and working.
  7. Yes, the cowl should fit. It is a nice upgrade to keep leaves and other debris out. Doesn't look exactly right, but does a better job. Big Blue is sporting one of the polka-dot cowls, but Dad's truck will keep the slotted one with plastic screen glued under it. As for the center caps, I certainly wasn't aware that the later ones were smaller. How much smaller?
  8. Had someone ask me for info on the engine compartment light, including the retainers for the wire loom. Check this out: Underhood/Engine Compartment Light. And, with the permission of our new member, Snow Monkey, I added his timing instructions to the IDI page: Engines/IDI Diesel.
  9. Welcome! Glad you are checking us out. That's quite a fleet. Where's home? We have a member's map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map) and would love to add you to it.
  10. Ok guys, good thoughts. We don't really have much control over it as we won't turn people away that want to join. But it is a question of whether we encourage it and how we handle it, meaning where we put them, so to speak. I agree with Jonathan that segregating things into various genres will hurt the ones that have very few people participating in that discussion. So, for now let's keep everything in the main section and we can start new sections as and when we think they are warranted. And, I can move discussions from section to section if we want. I can move whole threads, posts and responses thereunto, or just individual posts. So if we've had a really good thread on some specific engine issue, or a particular era of truck, I can move whatever we want to a new home if we create one. Thanks, but that then begs the question of what we call things. The site is Gary's Garagemahal and forum is the Bullnose Enthusiast's Forum, and that moniker covers all discussions in the forum. It might be possible, and I'll think about it to see, to do it this way - when/if the time comes: Gary's Garagemahal Bumpside (1967-72) Dentside (1973-79) Bullnose Enthusiast's Forum etc Thoughts?
  11. I've used Simple Green on a lot of things, and at a high concentration and high temp it will take the sheen off paint. But with a light mix, like 1:4, and no heat it shouldn't hurt the paint if washed off.
  12. Ok, so it is coolant. The main leak possibilities I can think of are: The head/intake interface as there's a coolant passage at the very rear - as well as the front. But you say the back of the block is dry? Head/block interface, but again you say the back of the block is dry. I don't think there is a soft plug under the bell housing that goes into the cooling system. But I could be wrong as that's what this kind of suggests.
  13. Folks - It has been suggested that we expand our scope to include some of the other Ford trucks, like bumps, dents, bricks, etc. I think the idea is that some of you don't have a Bullnose but still participate, and some have a Bullnose as well as other trucks. I have friends that some of you know that could benefit from this. Some of you know Scott, the welder guy, who has a '78 and doesn't seem to want to join other forums. He and I have a mutual friend, Ben, who is going to build my bumper, and he called this morning wanting to get started on his own '78. John, my paint/body friend that some of you met, is working on a '72 and really doesn't want to be part of other forums from what I can tell. Steven, that some of you've met here, has a '93. Jim and Brandon both have later trucks. And now we have Dustin, a new member with a '77. To do that we would need to think through how best to do it. I don't know much about the other eras, so wouldn't be all that much help. And our documentation is specifically for the Bullnose era, although I do have the master parts catalogs for the earlier trucks. Also, we have friends in Fordification, the bump/dent guys, including the two guys that came to the show with the nice 70's trucks. They have a wealth of documentation and a nice community, so we don't need to go into competition with them. One approach would be to have sub-forums for the other genres. But if they take off I'm going to need help in policing them as well as helping the folks. What do y'all think?
  14. Oh bummer! I missed your earlier post. I have about 300 pics I need to get through. But uploading them to the forum itself will be tedious, to say the least. How 'bout I cull some of the bad ones out and post them on the website. I can do that easily, and then come back with a link. Will that work?
  15. Welcome, Dustin! You may be our first "dent" participant, although I know of others that have dents but don't seem to be active. I'm currently writing a post to everyone to take a poll about how to best help those of you who have other than Bullnose trucks. All are welcome, but we just have more documentation for the Bullnose than others. Again, WELCOME!
  16. Ok, I see the liquid that has the dye in it, but is that coolant? It seems to be with the surface tension it has. Can you take a look at the back of the intake manifold? And, I've tried to embed your video - let's see if it works.
  17. I'm confused. You said no leak other than the leak coming from the rear main. So you are losing coolant and oil? But no signs of where the coolant is going?
  18. I do like the Graphite! And blocking the overflow would cause higher pressure. I'd try taking it to a bottle instead, as grumpin suggested. Good luck on the test.
  19. Good report. I'm sure you've accounted for the fact that you are going ~10% further each revolution in your calc's - right? As for "I'm usually in the left lane with the big rigs at an easier pace", is that the Limey showing through?
