  1. If you give us the part number we may be able to help. Or if you could circle the part in one of the drawings we might be able to find the part #.
  2. Yes, Matthew, I feel kinda . As for the MPG, I think you are reaping the "benefits" of a C6. With that kind of gearing you should be pushing 20 MPG, as you can see from David's report. But the big difference between your trucks is the tranny. On the other hand, it works. And you still get better MPG than Big Blue gets. Plus it is what your truck was born with. So don't let anyone tell you it needs to be replaced.
  3. We recently realized that the pages in Documentation/Fasteners And Illustrations/Front Clip weren't working properly, so today I worked on them. Extensively. They are now working, but along the way I've realized that we have a page that shows pictures of 36 different fasteners that I've cataloged for these trucks. And you can click on any of those pics and be taken to a page on that specific fastener, most of which have dimensions as well as sources where I've been able to find them. However, I don't think you'll be using that page unless you are trying to figure out what some mysterious fastener is. Instead, you are more likely to be going to one of the pages below, each of which has the illustration from the Master Parts Catalog. And, each page has blue boxes around the fastener's part number, with the blue box serving as a link to the appropriate fastener's page. Fenders And Aprons: Includes not only the fasteners for how the fenders and aprons/inner fenders attach to each other but also how they attach to the cab and radiator support. In addition it includes the fasteners for the battery supports and sound deadening. Hood: Shows how the hinges and hood latch attach, as well as the release. Radiator And Grille: Fasteners for grille, headlight doors, upper and lower trim pieces, valance, filler panel, etc. Headlights And Turn Signals: Shows how the headlights and turn signals attach as well as the filler piece outside of the headlights. But, I have this sneaky feeling that this whole area is misplaced. That somehow the pages should be elsewhere. But where? Do you know? What needs to change? Help!
  4. lol, now there's one I haven't heard in a long LONG time. The band came and went before I was even born, but I grew up on AM radio and they played a lot of 60's stuff. I don't think I've heard that song in 25 years. I'm listening to 60's On 6 on SiriusXM, and that was playing.
  5. Scott - Do you read lips? I was once into true high-end stereo equipment. My Miata had an Eclipse system, including fiber optics from the head unit to the DSP unit in the trunk, and that produced the center channel signal to the Boston Acoustics speaker on the back of the rear view mirror, which bounced the sound off the windshield. BA 3-ways in the doors and rear channels in the head rests finished out the system - all driven by Eclipse amps. And the sound was tailored by a 9-band parametric equalizer, which was automagically set initially with a mike held at the driver's head position. It worked extremely well. In Blue Raincoat you could close your eyes and "see" Jennifer Warnes standing on the hood due to the center channel. So I know what a true center channel sounds like. And what I've suggested won't create that. But, standing in front of these Bose speakers and listening to Question Mark & The Mysterians belting out 96 Tears I can tell that the center channel is there. Placing my head half way between the left and center speakers still gives me some stereo, and ditto between center and right - which approximates the position of the driver's and passenger's heads, respectively. Give it a try - it won't cost much.
  6. Yes, I think there's a benefit. And you need the thing on the left, and it mounts as shown on the right. But I don't have an extra as the one on the left goes in Dad's truck and the one on the right is in Big Blue.
  7. Not that I'm aware of. But I just went to the map and it shows that we have 141 entries on it. And if you click on the People tab and set it to Members it shows that we have 481 thereof. So 29% of our members are on the map.
  8. Anyone's welcome to try FTE. I'm persona non grata there. But this might be a possibility. A local person would have to volunteer to host it, although not necessarily the way I do it with a dinner, et al. And if there were several in a region they could come together to help.
  9. Big speed difference. Standing still aero doesn't help at all. At Mach 1 it helps bunches.
  10. Attendance was down somewhat due to the rain we had just before the show started. But that would only have deterred the locals. If you'd driven in from afar you'd come anyway. So, how do we get attendance up? This was advertised on something like 10 Ford truck Facebook pages each of the last three months before the show. Ditto Full Sized Broncos. Ditto FORDification. And Branden says he put it on another 20 or so sites. Locally there was a flyer in almost every business window in town. And some businesses like 4 Wheel Parts in Tulsa. Plus it was on the local FB page. And, of course this forum. But I don't know about FTE - I don't post there and I'm not sure they'd leave the flyer up. Ideas? Thoughts?
  11. I thought that was it. And the variability is probably due to either speed differences having a bigger impact or side/head winds doing it. Or both.
  12. David - What conclusions do you draw from that? And can you tell much difference for the MPG on the way here vs the return? Meaning with/without the aero mods?
  13. Greg - Never fear, we were all newbies once. To go to the document I mentioned, which is Ford's rebuild instructions from the factory shop manual at Documentation/Driveline/Transmissions/Manual Transmissions/SROD, do this: 1. If you are on a mobile device click on the 3-line "hamburger" as it is called to open up the menu. If on a real computer scroll up and the menu drops down from above, with Forum, Documentation, and About showing. 2. Click on Documentation 3. Click on Driveline 4. Click on Transmissions 5. Click on Manual Transmissions 6. Click on Single Rail Overdrive (SROD) At that point the document will open and you can scroll down to page 12 and see the parts. Does that help? If not, don't worry as we can get you there.
  14. Yep, come on back! We'll be eating it for days.
  15. Thanks, guys. It is a labor of love, and some times there's more labor than others. But, it is well worth it. As for Janey, I out-punted my coverage, didn't I? She cooked, cleaned, and prepared for several days before the show, and then did the behind-the-scenes work to let me "talk trucks" to y'all Friday and Saturday nights. As for the food, do you see why I'm gaining weight? Her cooking is soooo good and my activity level isn't what it used to be, so.... This morning we finished the egg casserole and then had the last two pieces of that coffee cake.
  16. The new trucks are made of aluminum and a 2015 is 700 pounds lighter than the 2014. And from what I can tell a 2015 Supercrew like Blue comes in at about 4500 lbs. However, that's probably w/o the sunroof, heavier rear axle, vibrating seats, etc. So I'm not sure how a Bullnose crew and a later supercrew would compare in weight. Wait! The crew cab was not available in an F150 for sure and I don't think it was available in an F250 in the Bullnose years. So that's not a good comparison. In any event, I think a 3.5L EB in a Bullnose would be a winner! Drop another 700 lbs from 4500 to 3800 and go up 2X or more in HP and torque, plus at least a 6-speed tranny, and the thing would scream.
  17. Yep, what Bill said. I have a '96 CA-spec 460 EFI setup that is complete save for the ECU in Bill's pic. Not COP, but OBD-II compliant - complete with the OBD-II connector. Instead of the CA ECU I have an EEC-V MAF/SEFI ECU that was originally for a 5.8L. But it has been tweaked by myself as well as Core Tuning to believe it is for a 7.5L. EGR is turned off and other tweaks have been made. It'll be running Big Blue some time next year.
  18. Shaun - If you can, get a rental with the Ecoboost. Or a diesel. Timothy (rust&crust) - You got back on! Good! 10 MPG isn't bad with that much weight. My 2015, Blue, got 11.0 towing our 25' SeaRay to/from Lake Powell in Utah. The boat weighs about 5K and the trailer, being aluminum, is just less than 1k, so we were at 6k #'s. We towed at 65 MPH and the engine handled it superbly. In fact, to this point I'd much rather tow with that truck that with Big Blue. There's no muss, no fuss, just "can do!" And, at 11.0 MPG towing 6K #'s vs 11.5 running light on Big Blue, the MPG is excellent. But maybe the new engine in Big Blue will change that. Having said that, Paul/Rogue_Wulff will probably, as David said, spank us. That Cummins is getting 30 running light. Blue gets maybe 20 on the same course. So 11 over 20 gives 55% when towing. That means Paul might get 16.5 MPG towing, although from what I've read the diesels don't lose as much MPG as the gas engines do when towing.
  19. You have a lot of good options there. I didn't measure the caged one, but other than the cage it is the same size. So if you position the wires and their protection such that they won't be chafed by the sharp end of the screw you should be able to use the non-caged nut. And maybe round the end of the screw a bit?
  20. I couldn't find "lower shift bushing". Have you looked at that factory documentation on the SROD on the page here: Documentation/Transmissions/Manual Transmissions/SROD? Page 12 in it might give you the name of the part and then I might be able to find the part number.
  21. Brandon/Bruno2 has been telling me that the E-Series vans had a disc brake setup and that it may be a bolt-on for our trucks. He's supposed to be researching it and will report back. As for water, is the vent hose still on the axle? There's a hose from the brake junction block that is supposed to go up and clip to the frame. But sometimes it gets old and breaks off, allowing water in. You can see it in the illustrations on the page at Documentation/Driveline/Rear Axle Vents.
  22. Chris - Central City has the face on the ballroom floor, if I remember correctly. Right? Dad was always talking about that, and I've seen it several times. The ballerinas and the opera house are in Fairfax, not Ralston, north of the Y where you hit 18. Fairfax was right in the middle of the problems where the white men were marrying Osage women and killing them to get their money. The book Killers Of The Flower Moon is about that, and the movie is said to be in production. Shaun - Maybe we should have a towing MPG category? I'd use Blue.
