The "E5" part of the part number says it was at least designed in 1985, and parts usually appeared on vehicles the same year they were designed, although not always.  And, sure enough, that is the case for these mirrors.  As the snippet below shows, which is from our page on Documentation/Exterior/Exterior Mirrors, these came out on 1985 trucks.  But, the "85/" indicates that they were used at least until the end of that master parts catalog, which was 1989.  So they were used on both Bullnose and Bricknose trucks.

I used to think so as well, but you will see them occasionally on the 85-86 Bullnoses.

Gary, did the Type 14 paddle mirrors replace the old small chrome Type-5 mirrors like mine? Or were they both available at the same time?

According to the MPC both types were used through at least '89.  But other than what I see in there I don't know.

Thanks guys - hope it's legit as I pulled the trigger.  The aftermarket ones I have now look great, but are not very sturdy.  Hopefully this is an improvement.
