Bug Deflector

dblohowiak
I’d love a old style vertical bug deflector for my 86 F250. It had one long ago that was removed, and I love the look. OEM or aftermarket, not too picky, but they’re proving near impossible to find. No color preference, but Red would be best.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

I have the bug deflector from my "84 but it is the curved aerodynamic type and gray in color. If that is of any interest let me know.

Thanks Whisler, but I am stuck on the look of the vertical ones, don’t know why.

I really appreciate the offer though!

Hey Dan - I'll keep a lookout for one.
I think a red would look best on your truck also.

On this body style specifically I've seen:

Dark Smoke
Green (bright)
Blue (bright)
Red (bright)
Clear

Curious what other colors are out there for the bullnose.

Dan - sent you an email this morning with one. It's an old one but like the universal ones that David found it looks flat across the front.
So it will work, just won't conform to the hood.

For reference on the angles since a lot of the used listings don't have an application or the right application, here is how one for our trucks looks. I can get measurements if needed.

Slight crease in the middle

Kickbacks on the ends

Thanks David

Dan and I have been in contact a little and while I already have plans for mine, I am keeping a watchful eye out for any I see for sale or on trucks around here being parted out.

Anyone live in Kansas? The seller isn't willing to ship, but appears to be the fit for our trucks, and cheap!

That's perfect and really cheap.

I'd ask him if you ship him a box with a prepaid label if he'd drop it off at the post office.

Re: Bug Deflector

This post was updated on .

An update, I found this NOS Owens Classic model in LA, and got it installed today. It’s notched on the back to allow a subtle bend to accommodate our trucks, and was simple to install.

Regarding the smoke one I linked to earlier in Kansas, the seller agreed to your suggestion Scott of sending a prepaid box, but I no longer have a need, as I like the blue better than the smoke, so there is potentially a great deal out there for another forum member!

Best,

Dan

I have no idea why the photo is upside down. I blame posting from my phone.

It looks good above, pun intended, but looks better this way.

I'd missed that there was one in Kansas, my home state.  So I looked at the listing and see that it is w/i 1/2 mile of our old house in Wichita.  Small world.

Re: Bug Deflector

dblohowiak
Quick update on my bug deflector mission. I found this old accessory on ebay for a few bucks and threw it on. Took some work, didn't like being uncoiled after over twenty years in the package, but whatever terrifying chemicals they used to make it worked, as it was still workable and shiny. Helps complete my "as 80's as possible" aesthetic along with my 76 antenna ball.

Not for everyone, but definitely for me.
