Block plate for 460 w/automatic

I am looking for the block plate to fit a 460 with an automatic transmission. I have the one that is currently in the truck, but would like to have the new engine complete and ready to stuff in without having to yank the plate off the old engine, clean it and put it on the new one. I have one that has a rubber plug that when new snapped in with clips. After who knows how long, the rubber is swelled to the point it doesn't fit flat. I can reuse the access plate from the current one so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks.

Bill - I think I have the right engine/block plate.  I'll check tomorrow, but if I do it is yours.

If I do it will be the one from Dad's truck w/the 351M and a C6.  And from what I can see that is the same one for a 460 - with a C6.  But the MPC doesn't say an engine plate is used with the E4OD, although we know it was.  On the other hand, there is no engine plate but that one shown for a 460.  Didn't the E4OD come out behind the 460 before the end of my MPC in '89?

E4OD was introduced in 1989 so may have been an oversight. Considering the PN is a 1971 introduction and the 460 came out in mid 1968 along with the 429 (replacing the 462 MEL and 428 FE engines) I'm almost surprised it doesn't have a C8xx PN. Let me know what shipping is.

Is this it, Bill?  I'm pretty sure it is, and you can see that I marked it so.

I can get it out on Monday if you want it.  Sorry it is so greasy.    Seriously though, it'll need to be painted as it has been media-blasted.

Yes, that is indeed it. complete with the dual bolt pattern (early, 1968-69 Lincolns had an AC case that interfered with the top right bolt on the transmission to block) so the blocks were cast with the extra hole on that side and a special C6 case was used. The 462 MEL used the FE round bolt pattern and rather then do a complete mid run AC system rework, Ford modified the transmission case and block casting adding one extra hole. Real useful as you can stick a short 7/16-14 bolt and lock washer there to secure the plate so it won't move around during installation.

I'll get it out on Monday.  Last three digits still 236?

And, should have said that's interesting info about the dual patterns.  Didn't know that.

I hope he got it and the plate did not cut through the tape on the ends.

Yep I got a flat empty card board envelope and they said it was dropped at the house

I bought a new plate for my Ranger when I did the manual swap since they were still available from Ford at that time. They packaged their plates the same way.

Yes, FedUp deposited it against one of the railings on the front steps, still looked nice and flat. I will open it and have a can of Ford Blue in hand or should I prime it first? Need to get this weather front you people out West sent us for Christmas.

Probably should be primed.  It is raw.  Glad it made it.
