A blurb

This post was updated on .
I am a 1970 model, live in Skiatook  Ok all my life. Married for 23 years now, one son  and daughter. He's 21 in November, she's 17 this month. Both parents still alive and we both live on the same property.

My dad worked for local Ford dealership when I was young up until I was 10. The dealership sold and dad left as well I spent all my summer time with him learning how to work on cars and trucks, which he did on the side after he moved on form Ford. In high school (1985 freshman) I went to work for a neighbor, farming and cattle and working on whatever broke. At this time I also found I had great talent in small engines and begin to repair them as well. 1992 I quit farming and got into small engine repair full time and lost out in a business and went to work Cummins Southern Plains Power in Tulsa OK. Spent several years there and got back into small engines again in 1998. The last 11 years I have been at Skiatook Auto Parts and working on small engines on the side. In the process of building my own shop at home where I will continue to work on small engines and any thing else that may use fuel to propel itself.

I have drove Fords all my life and will continue that saga. I mean what else is there right? HAHA.
Look forward to becoming part of this group and learning from the members and just maybe I can help someone out as well. Want to know more about me just ask. Thanks for your time.

Let me say that you are the best small-engine mechanic I've found.  I was pointed your way by people at church, and they were right.  So, if you are that good with them I'll bet you are good with all things mechanical.

By the way, that '85 I was driving today has the voltmeter powered by the relay I borrowed from my headlight harness - like I told you a couple of days ago I would.  Please let me know when you get some Bosch units in that have the tab as I want to install my home-made headlight harness in that truck at some point.

And, by the way, where was the Ford dealership in Skiatook?  We've been here almost 11 years and it was long gone when we came.

125 west rogers where Crossfit is now. They parked all the new cars across the street in the lots. It was Dee Wade Ford. The wife of the original owner and her son still live in Skiatook. Dee (Jr) works for a Ford dealership in Tulsa. It got bought by a man named Doc Shook. Dad worked for him for awhile and then got a machinist job making a lot better money and moved on. The dealer ship then sold again becoming Osage Ford and moved to a new building out by highway 75 and 20. Then several years later closed their doors. There was also a Chevy dealership in town at the same time. Byers Chevrolet was at Osage and Main and the shop where Matt's truck repair is now. They also built a new building on the other side of Hwy 20 and 75 and also went out of business.  I will find some of the relays for you and get them on the way.

Interesting!  Our neighbors across the street run the Crossfit, and they are good friends.  And I was in Matt's today w/the flier.  (I put the flier in 14 places in Skiatook.  )

On the relays, there's no hurry as I have more on my plate than I can deal with at the moment.  For instance, in just less than a month I have guys from CA, CO, AZ, TX, KS, MO, AR, and AL showing up for the get-together.  Oh, and Tim Meyer, the Ford engine guru, from MN.  And that doesn't include the FTE folks that'll drive in for the day, and I know of around 10 of those that plan to be here.  Then the locals that come 'cause they see the signs, or the flier, or the advertising I've done on Facebook.

Spent time on the phone today with Stephanie from the Chamber of Commerce trying to get a lead on a food truck to have at the get-together.  And spent time with Angela at Highwayman Signs and Shannon at The Hitching Post about signs and banners.  Man, this is getting a lot bigger than I expected.

Well, next year will have this year to build on.  For instance, the flyer will be re-used with the dates changed.  And the banners and or signs will be re-used as I don't plan to put anything specific in them.  Plus I should have the food truck thing nailed for next year, if not this.  But, I do think I'll have to work a deal with the casino/hotel for next year, if not for this.  And I'm sure there'll be lots of other and newer details to be worked out.
