69 240 engine and parts

Alex Guenther
Here is a link to a FB ad for a 240 engine and parts:
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/173451200679204/?ref=messenger_banner

I was looking at this because I am looking to swap out my 3.8v6 and this looks like it has all the parts from the perches, radiator, to exhaust.  Is the engine worth anything?  Wondering if this is a worthwhile look for someone looking to swap engines.

Thanks,
Alex

Those perches are for an older truck, so they won't fit yours. About the only thing that would fit is the engine, but inline six cylinders have different perches than your original V6 and a V8.

Thanks Shaun.  Thought it was worth a shot.

Just fyi, the 240 is the little brother to the fabled 300.  The latter is a true truck engine - lots of torque at low RPM.  I wouldn't hesitate to put a 300 in a truck, but I'm not sure I'd put a 240 in.

My '71 has a 240ci Gary. It's just fine. I have hauled a car trailer with a car on it, no issues at all.

That being said, it's not a heavy high optioned truck. Things were still very basic in '71  :) They came with 3.50:1 rears as well.

I’ve owned and used both the 240 (in the ‘68) and two different 300’s. In the pic above I pulled this 4x4 donor home with the 240 engine truck. It’s not a bad engine at all, but 300’s are plentiful and a bit stronger. You mostly notice it when hauling. I never saw any fuel efficiency advantage with the smaller displacement.

My 62 F100 had a 240 in it orignally, It was a good little engine. I never had any problem towing with it. Then again, it also had 750/16's and 4.11 gears in it.
