Unique decal package

thelastkeg
Folks, I've seen this truck around town a couple of times but only recently was able to snap a picture.  I've never seen a decal/stripe setup like this before on the 80s Fords.  Something called a Free Wheeling package is similar, but only the 70s trucks have the distinct stripes.  The early 80s Fords with the Free Wheeling package has one solid stripe that fades into different colors.  Any idea what this is?

A Free Wheeling package would look like the pic below.  But I don't know about those stripes.  Maybe Ralph knows, so I'll tag him.

To hazard a guess . . .

Possibly a Mexican built Explorer package.

The Mexico built F-series had their own rules and differences.

Picture: Mexican Built 1984 F-150 Explorer.

Truck: 1981 F-150 Explorer / Engine: 300-6 California MCU Feedback System / Trans: T-18 - 4 speed / 2.75 Ford Rear Axle Open Diff.

That definitely looks like a tequila sunrise. (you have to be of age in the '70's to know what that or a Harvey Wallbanger is )

I believe there were a bunch of regional or dealer specific tape packages for these trucks as well.
(Rocky Mountain and Texas editions definitely)

 Jim,
Lil'Red is a '87 F250 HD, 4.10's, 1356 4x4, Zf-5, 3G, PMGR, Saginaw PS, desmogged with a Holley 80508 and Performer intake.
Too much other stuff to mention.

I didn't know that Dane!
Registering under an alias definitely sounds like something he might do to keep from drawing too much attention.

The drink is basically a screwdriver with Galliano.

I think I got that tidbit from On Any Sunday, excellent motorcycle production!

Definitely an excellent movie from my youth but as much as I admired Malcom Smith and the whole California MX scene it wasn't until '78 that we could drive up to Unadilla and watch the 250 GP races and I really got hooked.
Marty Tripes won on his Honda. (I had a CZ 250)

Those were great days for racing in the Finger Lakes region of NY.
I saw the Watkins Glen GP races throughout the late '70's culminating in Gilles Villeneuve's '79 win.
The Quebecoise contingent was estatic!
