Thoughts On Tire Size

Machspeed

Thinking about going with a bigger tire in my next set of shoes. Currently running stock tire size which I think is 235/75 15. I love the look and sizing of the tires on the truck pictured below but I have concerns about how it will affect my speedometer and the geometry of my front end. Thoughts on this size tire for my truck? I have the same OEM wheels as pictured.

I wouldn't worry about the speedo as that should be easily corrected.  And I don't think they would change anything on the alignment geometry, if that is what you mean.

But, Rusty is running 31's and they rub the radius arms as you get close to full lock on turns.  I think Clay is installing a lift to get away from that.

Also, you need to consider the width of your wheels vs the tires you get.  I recommend going on Tirerack.com and looking at the specs on the tires you are interested in.  That will give you the min and max wheel width for them, and you need to make sure yours are in that range, preferably in the middle.

In my opinion, a 31x10.50-15 is a perfect fit. Anything more and you have to lift it, and I don't like lifted trucks. The light tire rubbing on the radius arms isn't a big deal.

I'll second this opinion. I love the look of 31x10.50's on these trucks. I have them on my 1980 F150 4x4 (but with 10" wide rims, which is not to everybody's liking).

I am running 31x10.50's on both of mine, no issues. Very happy I didn't go bigger to 33.

Does that make them bulge like a beachball?

Could you upload a photo?

The truck doesn't have a bed on it at the moment, but here they are. 15"x10" wheels stick outside the Bullnose body lines a little bit, and you can see that the sidewalls bulge a little. The look isn't for everybody. We all have different tastes.

I have 31 10.50’s on my 92 Bronco, like them. Same as Rembrants.

Edit: I need wheels like Rembrant has!

I like those wheels too.

I got 33s which came on the truck when I bought it. Theyre pizza cutters and Ill probably downsize when theyre time comes.

31s are probably the way to go. 30s would look small.

Also, think about 16 inch rims, Ive found good all terrain tires in 265/75/16. Thats about 31.5 diameter.
