She Ain't Pretty But She's Mine

Dr3w42
Hi I'm a college student going to school in upstate NY. I recently (October 2020) took ownership of a pretty roached Bullnose and found this forum while trying to troubleshoot some "quirks" caused by the last owner. Thanks to you guys I now have a working temp gauge, an alternator that actually charges my battery, and working door locks. Now I'll preface while on the outside she looks pretty bad, I paid less for this truck than the last brake job on my daily driver. And what I got was a running, "driving" (mostly seized rear drums), truck with a manual transmission and a frame more solid than some 5 year old trucks I have seen.

Welcome aboard. You're certainly not alone in having a Bullnose that is rough around the edges...most of them are this way now 40 years later. Extra thumbs up for the truck still being intact at all in Upstate NY...I've seen the rust over there, it's brutal.

Welcome Andrew!

Glad you've joined us.
Whereabouts 'upstate' ?
From down here it seems that could be Albany, way up in Lake Placid, out west in Buffalo or anywhere in between...

Deciphering things the previous owners done is always a challenge.
There are a few of us (me, John.. ) that have no one else to blame!

With that much lift it looks like you could use some taller jack stands.

Yes, welcome Andrew!  Glad you joined.  And glad the site is helping.

As Jim asked, where in upstate NY?  I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we could add you if we had a city or zip.

As for blame, some of us buy-in large components, like an engine or transmission, but do a little bit of work ourselves.  So when it comes to speedo gears that slip or fuel tank gasket leaks we have no one else to point to but ourselves.

Yeah certainly it is a lot more lift than I would ever do myself. Already bought new jack stands since this photo was taken

I have started working on cleaning up the interior and right now it's looking a bit more grey than blue, but I see some light at the end of the tunnel

Is that a torch?
(Sorry, small phone, bad eyes)

My little brother went to RPI, I have a good idea which 'upstate' you mean, now.

ETA: NVM, I see suds, so I assume it's some kind of upholstery vacuum.

It looks like your interior is pretty much what Big Blue's was originally.  Same seat and door fabric, and same burled wood bezels.
