Is the LMC product also made of fiberglass, and identical to OEM?

I don't know. When I was at LMC back in the fall they didn't let me go through the warehouse.

It's foil backed something... the actual insulation is cut to fit the cavities, then there is an ABS shield. $250 for the one that says FORD and $180 for the one that says nothing. You have to buy the whole thing as well. There is no option to buy just the insulation.

I wonder how something like butyl insulation would work under the hood.

How does ABS hold up against heat?

My engine bay get very hot for some reason, to the point the RH fender is too hot to touch for more than a few seconds when it is driven.

The melting point of ABS is 221F. Typically 130 degress is thought to be too hot to touch for any length of time. So ABS might hold up.

Good question, Jeff! I've never seen one either, but then I've not been around the diesel trucks. But I might want to put one on Big Blue to further quieten things - if they work. (I'm not at all worried about the paint at this point in time since it is awful.)

So I'm going to tag Scott/kramttocs as he said in that other thread that it was being discussed elsewhere. Maybe he can supply a link so we can read their comments?
