New member from GA

smtngearhead
Hello everyone, I have been nosing around here for a couple of years now and figured it was about time I joined up. I currently own (or maybe I should say I am owned by) a 1986 XLT Lariat 4X4 with fuel injected 5.0 and AOD trans. I remember when these trucks were new and wanted one so bad I could taste it but in those days couldn't afford a new truck so nearly 30 years later I finally got my first bullnose a 1984 with 4.9 and 4 speed manual. I am not sure which I enjoy more driving my bullnose or working on it.

Welcome!  Glad you joined - finally.

What part of GA?  I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and can add you with a city or zip.

I understand the drive/work thinking.  I like working on mine, but in the middle of a project I think "This is never going to end!"  But, so far, it has and then I enjoy driving it again for a while - until the next project.

Trenton GA, it's about 25 minutes south west of Chattanooga TN. I'm right in the area where GA,TN and AL all meet.

You are now, quite literally, "on the map".

Welcome
We want to see pictures of the truck.
In the "project" area start a post on the work done and the plans of work to be done we all like to knoe what others are doing.

What 4sp transmission do you have?
I ask because there are 2 different types.
T18 / NP435 both have granny first gears and driven as 3sp starting in 2nd gear and only used the granny for heavy loads.

The other is a 3sp where 4th gear is a over drive.
SROD comes to mind.

My truck started with a T18 and I swapped in a NP435 with a over drive unit as the T18 was bad and did not want to lay the truck up when rebuilding the T18.
I also have a 300 six in it, love the combo of the six & granny first gear & over drive.

I no longer own the '84 but it had a 4speed with overdrive, I am thinking that would be an SROD. The 4.9 six was a great engine especially when Ford added fuel injection and coupled it with an E4OD, that was a bullet proof combination.
