New Member - 1980 Ford F100 Flareside XLT/Ranger

Shane Dowdy
Hello,

My name is Shane Dowdy, I am new to the forum. I have owned my 1980 Ford F100 XLT/ Ranger Flareside for about six years now.  It’s a driving project that I plan in doing a bit of resto-mods to. Looking for hard to find parts (i.e.  rear bumper brackets and license plate brackets) as well as advice. I am looking forward to sharing my updates and progress. 8FD19DF3-3CDE-4C53-BD74-3AFA7AEB7F30.jpeg

Shane - Welcome!  Glad you joined.

Where's home?  I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and I'd like to add you if I had a city or town.

And, you should consider creating a signature that tells a bit about your truck.  That way we don't have to ask questions to help you.

And, nice truck!  I've added the pic, but you can do it as well.  The instructions are on the Bullnose Forum/Forum FAQ's page and the Posting Pic's tab.

Thank you Gary and Grumpin for the welcome. And thanks for the signature suggestion, I will try to update that tonight.

I live in the Dallas Texas area in the small suburban town of Coppell.

Welcome aboard Shane. We have a lot of Flareside fans on here.

We also have a member that makes licence plate brackets like the original ones that came on the Flaresides.

I have one of Ron's plate brackets on my truck.

Thank you Rembrandt for the welcome and the bracket link. It looks like there are quite a few Flaresides on this site. Looking forward to sharing build knowledge and advice (hopefully a few pictures to) in my restomod endeavor.

Looks like Reamer has a lot of great items to sell.

Welcome to the site and it's not a blue flare side
I say that because 3 members have blue ones, mine is red & white.

I also have one of the plate brackets

The rear bumper brackets will be a hard one to come by.
I wonder if Reamer is thinking of making them?
I also wonder how different the step bumper brackets are from the chrome one for our trucks?
I did not even think of looking when I had a step bumper here. Gave the bumper & brackets away to a local to me member as I was not going to use it.

You have to start a post on what plans you have for the truck as we would like to hear of them.

FuzzFace2 (or Dave),

Thank you for the welcome. Nice looking Flareside, red and white is a great color on that truck.

I have a step-bumper on it right now, the brackets are welded on and not easily adjustable. I guess I could cut them off and try to match them.

I did contact Reamer about making a set along with the original license plate bracket and he is willing. Looking forward to doing some work on it soon.

I will attempt to start a thread on my truck and plans for it soon. But the short story is an attempt at making a Bullnose Flareside Lightning out of it. Or pretty darn close anyway.

Shane

So a wolf in sheep's clothing
I never followed what was different with the Lighting over a normal truck, guess we will find out LOL

I guy I work with has a Lighting he drives to work once in a wile. Kind of like me, only when we feel like it I guess.

Thanks on the truck.
I have some custom touches, duel tanks not offered on a flare side but looks factory inside & out, floating bumpers (no bumper bolts showing) and fog/driving lights added in the front bumper, metal ribbed floor replacing the wood floor as it was to much $$ to replace the wood.
I also added factory AC to a non-AC truck by swapping firewalls.

Cant wait to see posts on your project with lots of pictures
