Hello

dmsmith9
Hi everyone,

My name is Dallas . I live in Amarillo, Texas. I recently purchased a 1985 F150 with a 300-6 with a NP435. I have read that these were good engines so hopefully it works out well for me. She isn't pretty but it works. I joined because I think it has some electrical issue and will be asking for some help here soon. I can't wait to get acquainted with you all in the near future and look forward to learning a lot from the community.

Best regards,

Dallas

Welcome Dallas!
Glad it's working for you now.

The 300/4.9 I-6 is an incredibly tough and reliable engine that used to be found in all kinds of things in addition to pickups.
Pumps, gensets, wood chippers......

We don't see too many utility bodies/service trucks here on the forum but hopefully can answer whatever electrical questions you have if you start a new topic down in the main section where more people will see it.
 Jim,
Lil'Red is a '87 F250 HD, 4.10's, 1356 4x4, Zf-5, 3G, PMGR, Saginaw PS, desmogged with a Holley 80508 and Performer intake.
Too much other stuff to mention.

Welcome, Dallas!  Glad you joined.

Yes, the 300 six is a robust engine.  They aren't said to be fast, but have good torque down low so are a great truck engine.

As for electrical troubles, we have the 1985 Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM) at Documentation/Electrical/EVTM/1985 EVTM in the menu.  That should help you a bunch.

And we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and can add you if you'd like.

And boats! Lots and lots of boats! They were common power plants in the old inshore fishing boats up here.

I was going to say the exact same thing about the utility bodies. Kinda neat actually.

Welcome
I like my 300 / NP435 in my 81 F100 flare side.
As said not fast but gets the job done and the motor was used in a lot of stuff even larger Ford trucks.
