Getting ready for the road

C.Jett
. 1985 F150 4.9 l auto 2 w/d l/b. Cleaned it up a little. . New exhaust manifold. It came prewarped 12 thousands. Glued 80 grit to straight 4/4 and corrected it. FelPro gasket torqued to 20 ftlbs, Next day torqued to 30 ftlbs. Ran two heat cycles, next day torqued to 30 ftlbs. Bring you breakfast, lunch and dinner for this job.  . Spent many hours on bondo, I don’t recommend it. It was awesome looking when finished, Installed it and 3 days later, the cracks took over.  Sooooo I threw a rag over it.  . $ 8.00 cloth from Hobby Lobby

Looks great!  Well done!

Bummer on the dash cover.  But there's a lot of flex in it and I'm not sure what kind of filler would adhere well and deal with the flex.

Nice job I remember when my engine bay looked that good.
A hard to find oil leak and guess 10K miles in 3 years is showing some ware.

On the dash I dont think there is anything that would be good for a fix other than to cover it either like you did or dash cover you glue on. They look pretty good as I got one on my dash.

Installed front fuel tank, it’s galvanized and powder coated a silver gray, then I added an undercoat. New sender and vent. I also added ground wire direct to sender and frame. It appears to be a quality tank, haven’t added fuel yet, still sorting wires.

Excellent!!!  Looks great and should be easy to maintain.

And working A/C is a wonderful thing. Makes rides fun even on hot summer days.

About 15 years ago, mine decided to die in a gas station, while coming back home from equine competition, loaded with horses in trailer, kids in the truck, 70 miles from home.
NAPA one mile away, had ONE in stock, 15 minutes before closing on Saturday.
I considered myself lucky.

So, having a fuel pump dying in home driveway is, well, really lucky!

Now I know why Ford put two tanks on - so you have a backup fuel pump!

I am planning a "potential" and really "uncertain" road trip with Big Bro this late summer.  I decided to put a new fuel pump, and I'll keep the "old" one in the glove box.
We never know...
