Re: Gearbox, pitman arm and breaks

Ok, the Lares 204 won't fit. It's too big...the holes don't fit ( the distance of my original is much smaller) and also the outer diameter is much too big. It would grind my frame off...

As a matter of time, I've to drive with the installed rag joint/steering coupler.
I hope it will survive the journey. The play inside is very huge.

I also have fixed the pitman arm nut with the given torque and also added the spring washer. Both are new. But with the limitation of torque, I won't get the pitman arm closer to the case of the gearbox.
Maybe the angle of the cone of the gearbox is too big to get the pitman arm closer...

I'm sorry it won't fit.  But while the original is loose, they are made to survive so I don't think you'll have problems.

However, I think the best approach for getting rid of the slop is the Borgeson shaft, as has already been suggested.

Have a good trip!

Yes. Lares also told me it won't fit..
It's a miss-description...

I still have another "problem". Since I've reduced the idle speed, the engine often starves when setting the gearbox to drive or rear...I'm not 100% sure, but I think it can be a combination of TPS value and idle screw setting. Maybe I've to drill the holes of the TPS sensor bigger to get closer to 1V when the plates are closed.

Its not such a problem, cause it only appears when the engine is cold, but if I have enough time left, I want to adjust this.

That's a bummer on the description.  Are they going to do anything about it?

On the TPS, given what I've seen of the weather in Europe, the engine isn't likely to be "cold" for very long on your trip.

Yes, you're right. I'll work on this when I'm back...
