EGR valve

hubcityford
After rebuilding carburetor I’m moving to replace my EGR valve however can’t seem to find a match. The one I have seems to have a thick base as seen in photo. Also have photo of ID tag. Any help on where to locate one would be appreciated.

I have an 81 F100 V8 255 if that helps.

CX-1061 is the Motorcraft number, and it cross references to Ford PN E4PZ 9D448-R, which will have an ID # of E0TE 9D448-L1A.  (Some people don't know that a number on a Ford part is the ID #, not the part #.)

Or that a basic part number 9D448, is the same for every EGR valve Ford ever sold or installed (across brands, lines and models)

Great thanks! I will start looking today. Everything I have seen so far hasn’t looked like the one on my truck…but this will definitely help.
 Have a good day

Rock Auto carries a lot of Motorcraft PNs and there is a way to search for them. I wouldn't panic if it looks different unless you live where there are strict emission inspections.

Check these: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,1981,f-100,4.2l+255cid+v8,1120509,exhaust+&+emission,egr+valve,4968

Parts get superceded all the time.
I don't think appearance matters as long as it fits and is functionally equivalent.

The only one I found that matches is for V-8 5.0 on rockauto (which does not match my engine).

I found an old thread when you explained how to find the part list number and then part number. If I followed right it referenced 3 different part lists.

F100–M/T  CX-470
F100–M/T  CX-470
F100–A/T   CX-455

I wasn’t sure what the M/T and A/T signify. But it seems that I got some conflicting data with what’s on the engine verses what parts list is indicating.

I assumed that what’s on truck is original since it only has 87k miles.

Any thoughts?

Manual transmission or automatic transmission.

If CX455 is accurate for your application, we can see what that will cross to.

A/T is automatic transmission and M/T is manual. And it does seem like it shows a different valve. You don’t think yours has been changed?  If so, maybe your part was superseded?

It is automatic. I need to double check that I went through the calibration code/part number list cross reference. I’m doing all on my phone and it gets tricky reviewing.

It sure is a challenge on your (MY) phone..

There seems to be a NOS CX-455 on eBay for $19, delivered.

Really don’t know if it has been changed or not but it was never a daily driver and only accumulated the 87k miles over 25 or so years. Then set up in carport for another 15. I am only assuming that most parts are original.

Well, we can see that the engineering number is E0TE-9D448-E1A on the above EGR valve, but it does seem to match your Motorcraft number.

The sticker on your existing valve seems to show an E

As you say, it is a challenge to look up parts info on a cell phone.

I hope it works out for you!
