Cannot Add A Link In A Post

I don't know why, but as of right now I cannot add a link to a post.  If I click "Link" nothing happens.  Anyone else have that problem?

As it turns out, I can post links using Edge or Firefox, but not Chrome.  How 'bout the rest of you?  Any problems?

Shaun - Thanks.

Dave - I didn't explain very well.  The link I'm talking about it when you highlight a word or phrase, click Link, then are given a pop-up menu where you paste the link into a field.  Once you hit Go the word or phrase is a hot-link to that URL, like Shaun did.

What I think you did is just to past the URL into the post.

And my Chrome still won't do it but Edge and Firefox will.

Re: Cannot Add A Link In A Post

Nothing Special
I was also unable to put in a link using the "Link" button in Chrome.

And I couldn't get a "permalink" to post a link back to a different thread,

Thanks, Bob.  I found the permalink problem later and reported it as well.

It is pretty obvious that they've changed something on the N8 server.  The supposedly same code on our AWS servers doesn't have the same problem.  And if I go directly into the servers instead of through the embedded version it all works fine.  So something changed on N8.  And they aren't admitting it.

Thanks, guys.  I'm using Safari to respond on this tablet since I can post a link and get a permalink.

HOWEVER, on my shop computer, which is also a Win10 machine, I can get a link or permalink on Chrome.  So I don't know what to say the issue is.  It works on some computers and not on others.

I won't judge you (I'm using WIN7 / Chrome too).  But then again, I'm the guy that doesn't have a cell phone.

I borrowed Lesley's computer and was able to copy Permalinks and post links using WIN10 and Edge (Lesley has a cell phone too)

Glad it is working for you, Bob.

Yesterday Chrome on my Win10 shop computer was doing both of those things.  Today when I went out it had rebooted due to an update and it no longer does either.  Guess I'll need to get Firefox on it as well.

I keep Firefox open on this tablet and if I need a permalink or to create a link I do it on Firefox.

WIN10 / Chrome did not work on Lesley's computer either for what that's worth.  Chrome seems to be the common denominator.

I noticed this yesterday when trying to link to a section of the '85 EVTM.
While I would have wanted to add a link, I ended up spelling out the drill down to the '85 manual, the window won't open in Chrome.
I tried backing out of my reply and re-doing it a couple of times.

Glad it's not me, or something I've done. 🙂

Bob, Chrome is a common denominator.  But I've had Edge refuse to do it on some devices, and Safari usually doesn't.  The only one that consistently works appears to be Firefox.

Jim - I even had it refuse to insert a picture yesterday.  I right-clicked a pic that's already on here, copied the link, and pasted it into the Insert Image popup.  But when I hit Insert nothing happened.  As it turned out it was a pic I'd posted so I just used the Select Image option and that worked.

However, the next time I tried it everything worked just fine, so I'm confused.

The folks at Nabble appear to either be too busy moving the hundreds of forums to the N1 servers to worry about this or unable to recreate it.  In any event they won't even respond any more to my plea for help.  And since no one else is reporting the problem I think it is something they did to the code running on our server, N8.  So maybe when they move us to N1 it'll clear up?

I didn't notice anything unusual when inserting the schematic in my reply to Alex, but the Link button refuses to open despite multiple attempts.

And, I just tried it again in this reply...

Hopefully the issue will get resolved.
It's not encouraging that you don't even get a response.
