Cab light install kit

I built a cab light harness for my 90 and it seemed to get some attention on social media.

I was thinking about putting a basic install kit together but I wasn't sure if it was worth my time or if there was interest.

The install kit would include:

- Five factory OEM replacement Truck-Lite 25760Y light housings. These are the correct housings Ford used as OEM, not the aftermarket ones with the incorrect color (typically dark gray, factory is a light gray, nearly white) bases. These lenses have no markings (they don't have the brand stamped into the top)

- One 7/64" drill bit (I do need to recheck this as I think this was slightly too small for the supplied screws and I had to open them up)

- One 3/4" hole saw bit

- Five 194 incandescent bulbs

- One complete harness custom wired by me with pigtails that unplug from the main harness (the main harness will have an open end. More on that later)

- Instruction sheet

- One template with measurements for drilling. The template idea would be for you to lay the sheet on your roof with all the locations pre-measured...simply tape it down at the designated spots on the sheet and drill away, no guessing and no triple measuring required. Measurements are still provided on the instruction sheet.

The harness would be open ended meaning there will be no plug for you to plug into your truck since this is a universal application and there are 3 or 4 different plugs Ford used. The ground side would be provided with a ring terminal soldered on and a hex self tapping screw provided. Installer would be required to splice into or remove the plug to tap for power and option to ground that way is available too. Installer responsible for fishing the wire up. I cant help with that lol.

Please keep in mind the factory used speed nuts for the screws so the light housings themselves can vary on the roof between each other by as much as half an inch.


I think I could do it all for around 100 bucks or so. Would anyone actually be interested in this? I know the thought of measuring twice is daunting and that was a turnoff for me but now that I've done a few installs I am confident that someone could benefit from something like this and actually go through doing it if you're on the fence with a little help.

Angelo, I'm not a candidate for couple of reasons, but I wanted to tell you that your job is simply PERFECT, very professional!

If I was needing a harness for that installation, sure I would go with yours!

Angelo - I'm not a candidate either, but I agree that is really well done!  

And I don't think $100 is a bad price.  But will you include a wiring diagram?  Maybe a page from the EVTM?

I don't want to mention names but there are a few places selling parts online for easily triple what just the lenses typically sell for, and I found a new harness online for $100.

Doing this myself cost me around $50 and an afternoon of my time. I can't see why anyone should have to pay a couple hundred bucks just for parts when I could easily do this far cheaper. I should mention all connections in the harness are soldered together and professional grade heat shrink with internal glue are used.

A diagram could be provided but I don't know that it would entirely be needed, a few photos of the plug you're looking for would probably suffice.

Possibly interested. OEM harnesses available online at a similar price point and I already have OEM light assemblies. But the thought of having the template, nice new lights and decent instructions is appealing.
