Bronco quarter panels

Invisibleman13
In my never ending search for quarters for my Bronco, I was on the NPD website yesterday. They show part numbers, but they are out of stock. I sent an email inquiry about restock time and received a reply today. Scott at NPD said,
"The manufacturer discontinued these due to slow sales. The tooling was damaged and it was deemed not worth the expense to fix them considering the demand."
He then went on to recommend trying 1979 quarters using a hammer and torch. So to anyone looking for full quarters and not having luck, this is why.

David - Why aren't they Bronco quarterpanels?  The MPC seems to think they are:

27840-1 PANEL ASSY. (QUARTER)
80/86 U150 — w/swing away spare tire carrier (RH) EOTZ 9827840-B (LH) EOTZ 9827841-A

I was thinking they would be referred to as full replacement panels. Thanks for the correction.

Didn't mean it as a correction.  I was sure I was missing something.  But boy, those things are expensive!

What was the price of the most recent ones seen? Not being facetious, but these are rare.

I guess I've never seen them, so they must be rare.  But none of the many Bullnose trucks I've purchased has come close to the $2,695.80 they want for two body panels.  And shipping is another $400!

Tabco has the rear wheel arch for $89.75, so two of those would be ~$180.  Granted they are smaller panels than the NOS ones, but then most trucks rust out above the wheelwell, which this includes.

I'm just astounded at the price!

There is another set on ebay now. They are being sold individually and the seller wants $1600 per side. No shipping, local pick up only.
