It was working when the business was sold, and I helped the owner move out. He was going to scrap the lift, but I took it as partial payment for helping. So enough is there for it to work - I just have to replace a couple of things.

The lift will go to the top of the columns (~5.5') without hitting the door tracks. A vehicle would have to be all the way back to hit the door, which isn't likely given the length of the runways. The ceiling is nearly 16', so anything that fits through the 8' door can't touch the rafters.

I haven't installed the ram or cables yet - it's just sitting on wood blocks right now.

I got the replacement parts (shown in this & the NEXT several pics) installed, and I've started wiring the shop. Lights first; outlets to follow soon.

What amperage outlets? I went with 20a 110's and that let's me move my Century welder around anywhere. But I'd really like a heavier welder, and while I do have some 220v around, there might not be enough for a welder.

Common inexpensive 15A (some ganged), but I pulled full 200A service into the shop, and I have 2 220VAC 30A outlets & a ~30' extension cord for the welder, so I can reach the whole shop, and outside all 4 doors.

The outlet wiring will be heavy enough that I can swap to 20A outlets if I ever need to. The welder outlet wiring is heavy enough to swap those to 60A outlets, or to add more.

I might put my father's '11 dually Dodge on it today or tomorrow as a test.

I agree. As an old man, that tool is necessary. But, I like mine better.

That's a good idea - especially with a 4-poster. I've had things under my 2-post once or twice, but since the arms move and extend there's not much way to paint where it'll come down. But at least you'll know on yours.

A small item I bought the year I retired, have used it a few times for testing crank and cam sensor wave forms (beats the heck out of Snap-On for cost).

Here are the test leads I made for the Chrysler HEPs, they go in between the pickup and harness with test points for 8V supply, signal ground and the sensor output, which is pulled to ground when activated by the vanes in the distributor.
