Rick - Some of your pics are missing on FTE.  How 'bout recreating that thread with all the pics on here?  They don't go away if you put them here.

One way is to create a new thread and put everything in one post so it is all together.  Another is to do a new Project and lock the project so no one else can post - thereby ensuring all of your comments stay together.  Or, just create a complete post to this thread.  However, any way you do it the pics will stay if you put them on here.

Hey Lariat, thanks. I did see your thread, that looks great. Problem here is that finding old stuff like this in the junk yards is next to impossible. They are available on Ebay, but expensive too. Since I'm not in a big rush for this stuff, I'm going to hunt around a little bit and see what I can find before I spend the too much on them;).

Just for grins, here is my 300 air/alt bracket cut down. As I said, you can make it look as if it wasn't ever modified.



Although your 302 bracket is different, I can't see why the same approach can't be taken. Most of your bracket can be removed.

Nice job cutting that, I see what you mean. Mine is a completely different animal, and I can certainly cut it, but there's no way it will look as clean as yours when it's done. I may still cut it...I'm not 100% opposed to that, but if I can get my hands on the correct non-smog pump brackets, I'd prefer to do that.

It looks different yes, but the result should be the same. After you cut the entire low slung saddle part, you are left with the mounting for the alternator only. You also may be able to swing your alternator up, once the air pump is gone. Al you would need to fab or find , possibly, would be an adjustment bracket. Easy to fab or find. Maybe your original may even work.
