Thanks gary! those photos did help, i got it all back together but then managed to crossthread the fuel line fitting that goes into the inlet that threads into the carb..any idea where i can get a fuel line that goes from the fuel pump to the carb? Ive been looking around online and can find them for the older 351w engines but none for the bullnose era

Have you checked Inline Tube? I recall them having some of those lines. Sometimes it's a wash as far as price is concerned with buying premade vs buying the line and making your own.

Just checked them. They have plenty of line for 302 2bbls but nothing in terms of 4bbl 351s. The price isnt too bad either. Maybe i should research how to make my own then

Back in the day the Help section at the parts stores had fittings that went into the carb so you could use rubber hose.  It isn't ideal, but it works.

However, you can make your own hard line with enough line to mess up a few times.  It isn't the most straightforward thing to do, but can be done.

Sorry, was hoping they'd have it for you.
If there isn't really a need to have the tools permanently, you could check your local auto parts store to see if they rent the flaring tool, cutter, and bender. May have to buy the cutter. Then you could buy a stock length longer than you need, bend it, cut one end off and reuse that nut. Then you only have to flare one end.

You may also be able to get by with just getting a new nut and the flaring tool. Cut off the flare near the bad nut, clean it, install the new nut, and flare it. Good chance you can squeeze out the little length you removed but I don't know how the 351 is routed so that would need confirmed.

This post was updated on .
The H.O. came with a 4180 just like my 460.
If that's the case there is very little spare line (with a mechanical pump)

The "carb to barb" fitting eliminated the filter (or stone) at the carburetor inlet.
It was threaded 7/8-20?... Some silly fine thread.

Let me see if I can dig up a p/n....

I have a 4180 on the shelf in the shop, and when I get out there later today I can measure the inlet fitting.  But right now I'm drinking coffee and resting up.  The weekend sure was fun, but I'm now TIRED.  And I didn't drive more than a couple of miles, unlike some of y'all.

Looks like it is 7/8-20.  This site says that should have a major diameter of .875" and this measures .870".  And it is a 20 pitch.

This thing wasn't even finger tight, so we've been discussing this same thing some time recently.

Been a while again. Fixed my leak problem with the fuel line going to the carb, a basic fiberglass patch is doing well. Now I just need to replace a gasket on my front float bowl because that's leaking and I should be good to go. This truck is a whole lotta work that I was never prepared for

My favorite line is that these trucks are like onions.  We peel and cry, peel and cry, but soon we have a mess of onion rings.

Just keep working on it! Its hard to have a big pile of metal in the garage or driveway staring at you every morning but remember: people like us made them to begin with so nothing is beyond our capabilities to fix. The biggest difference is they didn't have to pay for parts.
