1983 f100 flareside bed rebuild

jguerra147
Hey guys,
I have been restoring my f100 for the past few months and I have a question on the cross sill locations. I ordered 5 from LMC truck but I only see the location to mount 4 of them. https://www.lmctruck.com/1980-96-ford/fd-1980-87-stepside-steel-bed-components, this link shows the sills and I believe the one that is in question is number 9 since the frame does not have holes to mount it in that location. Does anyone have a picture of their truck without the bed so I could use it for reference? Any help would be appreciated.

Cory completely rebuilt another Flareside as a Covid project over the last year.

He swapped frames and went as far as to fabricate new bed sides himself.

I can't dig through on my phone to link specific pics, but have a look through there.
There are plenty of pics of the bare frame, and the bed going back together.

Or make a post in that thread to ask him a question.

Welcome to the forum!  Glad you joined.

But, you may have missed the email you were sent that asked you to go to the New Members Start Here folder, read the guidelines, and then introduce yourself by starting a new thread and telling us about yourself and your truck.

Don't worry, about half of the new members miss that email.  But we need you to confirm that you've read the guidelines since we hold everyone to them.  So can you confirm that?

I want to say 1 of the cross beams dose not have bolts down through to the frame.

The second one in from the right is not bolted through the frame.
I do not know how it is held in place on the wood floor beds?
Cory you out there?

Now I know you are going to say "but that is not a flare side bed", well it is on my truck
I took a long bed style side and cut the sides off and made it shorter from the front.
I had to relocate the front cross member back a little and spot weld it back to the floor what it would line up with the front frame holes. The rest of the holes lined up with no issues.
I did have to rework the front & rear floor to fit the sills in place.

Thanks for the reply, I was wondering if it was just a support for the wood bed since I didn't see the mounting holes on the frame for that particular cross sill. Also what kind of paint did you use for your rear bumper I was getting ready to order some paint for mine

The rear and front bumpers were customized by me, front has fog / driving lights in it and no bolts showing.

I used Dupla color pre mix bright silver and their clear over it.
