vin DSO numbers

I want to thank you guys for racking your brains on this.

The vin calls out a 300 6 cyl., when we got it in 99, it had a V8.

6 months later it blew, so we dropped a 302 in it.

So, OEM is a 300, manual 4 speed granny, 4x4, 9" 3.50 rear-end.

We usually don't use first gear.

Q. Do all 80's 4x4 f150s have quad Shocks in front??

Q. Do you add the F0092 & T00844 to the front and rear GAWR to get a total??

I also noticed A/C was added buy ford, just don't know when or where.

The unit under the radio is heat only, A/C add on is under the vent

by the driver.

Quad shocks were an option and not that many have them.

The A/C was probably added by the dealer.

I don't think the F & T #'s change the GVWR, just tell you how much reserve you have between the front & total GVWRs and actual weight. But the GVWR on the certification label is your max.

The 521717 would say it was special order # 1717 from the Dallas Office. But I don't know what that means. Or meant.

The 5-6 digit DSO number usually indicates a custom color paint. On every one of the certification labels that I have seen with these special order codes, you will usually notice that the area for the factory paint code is left blank. Unless there's something else special about the truck...it's usually a special order paint color.

As for FOO or F0092, I don't know. I cannot find either of those in the Master Parts Catalog. And TO or T0844 is the same.

The F0092 and the T0844 are the reserve capacities in pounds. F is for the front axle, so 92 lbs for the front, and T is for total, so 844 pounds total reserve capacity.

You mentioned a Marti Report, what is that?

Is something I should order?

I noticed from Gary, the example he used of the #24 F0083 & #25 T0112

are a little lite compared to mine at, the F0092 and the (T0844)

is this odd for mine.

I noticed this on a few others on the web.

I’ll jump in here where you asked Rembrant.

A Marti Report is information about your vehicle from Kevin Marti and company who has the rights to this info from Ford.

I got one for my F250 and Bronco. I am glad I did. For instance I didn’t know my Bronco has “Super Cooling”. Helped when installing a new aluminum radiator.

For both rigs and a printed report it was about $120. Here is a link to their website.

Edit: if you order one they will ask for a picture of your door tag.

Hey Grumpin, your comment made me laugh thinking about NumberDummy over on FTE.

He would say "There's no such thing as a door tag". haha.

I mean without exception...he knew exactly what you meant, but he'd never let it pass.

I checked the Certification Label from my 1984 F150 Flareside (2wd) and had a front rating of 27 lbs, and total of 635 lbs, so I'd say your numbers are likely fairly normal for a 4x4 Flareside with quad front shocks. My 2wd Flareside had smaller (narrower) rear springs as well.

That’s funny! I was actually thinking what’s that called? Oh heck, it’s a door tag!

Here's a pic of the Cert Label from the F100 I was looking at purchasing. I know there were some differences and confusion based on some things the owner said they changed - like the rear axle and of course the color. I enjoy this investigative side of the search so I just thought I'd post this here for additional reference.

FYI that is a 1981 truck being it was built 12/80.

Anything built Sept and later is the next years model.

Also in the lower left hand corner has "1981"

Be happy its a 81 and not a 80 as the 80 has a lot of 1 off things going on with it like wiring.

Mine was built 11/80 making it a 81 model year truck and also has the "1981" in the lower left corner.
