Jonathan
My 1986 did not have a clock. When I sought advice here and looking at the EVTM it seemed the harness should be there and it was. So it was plug and play for me. I think the harness is just on the passenger side of the stereo. Info may be in my project thread for Elyza. I will try and search for your thread describing your clock experience. I could be helpful for me. If I recall correctly the harness was behind the ashtray area below where the stereo goes at the salvage yard vehicle I sourced it from. My 1986 did not have a clock. It is much more heavy then it looks. It is also awkward to move around which does not help. I filled up a trash bag full of trash and saved a few items that was in the back. I pressure washed the bed but it still smelled bad the next day. So I sprayed the bed with 409 and scrubbed it. After it sat for about 15 mins I pressure washed it again. I am happy to report it no longer smells bad. Also the tailgate would not lower down. I had to remove the handle and manually pull on the metal rods one at a time to get it to come down for better access.

With some help and guidance from Randy I ordered two Dorman kits to acquire the yellow clips required to fix my tailgate. I lubricated every contact and pivot point with Deep Creep as well. It now functions correctly. Though I wish it had some sort of assist mechanism to make lifting the tailgate easier. I am not getting any younger and it is not easy to raise and lower the tailgate. I am not getting any younger and it is not easy to raise and lower the tailgate. I wanted to pressure wash the engine bay before I start assembly of the drivers side driveline and suspension. Because I didn't want all that crude to come down on my fresh clean and painted parts if I clean it later. I also cleaned up the passenger side suspension area the best I could before disassembly starts on that. I heard good things about oven cleaner and it was cheaper then engine degreaser. But being that the paint is so old it removed a lot of paint from parts. I avoided direct contact on areas I didn't want to damage the paint but some dripped on the brake booster which removed some paint. So I will remove it and paint it. Also some paint came off on the frame where I painted but only from the area which was not prepped properly. Some areas were painted by overspray so due to lack of prep work I am not surprised the paint came off after pressure washing. Before, during and after photos attached. Jonathan
nothing feels as good as a good cleaning. I'm glad to see a bed not heavily rusted. heck I don't even see a ding Thanks, it looks better then I expected it to. Not any major dents but there are some rust areas and small dents. If I line the truck bed it should look pretty good. The tailgate has some holes in the bottom where it rusted out. I need to figure out the best way to repair it. nothing feels as good as a good cleaning. Thanks Randy, I had to sideline the truck project a few weeks to handle other things such as fixing the Celica but it feels good to start making progress again. Woohoo, that looks good. So do you just fill in the holes with weld and grind it down? I can use some guidance from you as I just purchased a welder and I have no experience. Once I get it out of the box and set up I will post some pictures so you know what I am working with.
