My wife rode in it the other day and also noted a lack of cupholders. My 2006 F150 has some cupholders in the door pockets, among other places. My 81 F150 doors are just bare painted metal for the last 6 or 7 inches at the bottom, the door cards don't cover that area. It's a "Ranger" model, which I think is probably bottom of the line (roll up windows, manual locks, etc.). So I was thinking about creating something similar to my 2006 door cards down there, for more storage and cupholders. But then I came across some photos of an 81 for sale in my area, and it had these: I can't tell if they are part of the door card or not, I suspect not. Were these standard on some of the higher-up models? Do they have a cupholder incorporated into them? Anyone have some better pictures of them, like from above? In my opinion, other than the look, they aren't anything special though and at this point most need new elastic. If looking for something functional I prefer the hard plastic kind myself. They are available aftermarket and there are some threads on here to beef them up. They would be easier to incorporate cup holders into. Some members have also found a good bench seat console that might work for your needs. On my phone or would find some thread links for you. Can later if no one beats me to it. They are separate from the door card and held in with screws. I see them from time to time at the scrap yard. Really only any good for holding your phone and wallet. In my Bronco I put in the later hard plastic ones covered in carpet from LMC. These are held in with screws too. They do not look as good but are way more practical. I can stuff a drinks bottle in there. The Bronco also has a center console between the captains chairs. The cup holders in that are so shallow nothing stays upright!
