Fixing Eddie

Stein - I wouldn't have thought that movement in & out of the shaft would cause it to hit. I'd have thought that runout on the bearing/fan or having the motor mounted too far to one side would do it. But I hope you've fixed it. :nabble_crossed-fingers-20-pixel_orig:

Hi.

It is probably a combination of both. I tried to move the fan to the left but it would still rattle.

Hi.

After a sunny day its raining heavy again.

15'C. Lately I have smelled " wet carpet " .

So after work today ( no rain then ) I looked under the carpet. Driver side. And almost the whole flat under was wet. But the sealing over this little hole and claws was broken.IMG_20240716_185251489.thumb.jpg.96ed5ab2c94c1cf280475c7e44c005d0.jpg This is a clip holding the speedometer wire. From the under side I sprayed the clip with a lot of body protection (tectyl) to try to seal the water out. Hi.

A few days after this repair I found a little puddle of water on the floor. Had not used Eddie since the repair either. Looked like the water had come down the inside of the firewall. Took of the fresh air intake grille. I'd be careful with copper.

It is the more noble of two metals and will eat the iron right out from underneath it if it gets wet. (You're making a battery)

Hi.

I did not know that๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I thought copper would be ok because it does not rust like steel.

I better fix it again soon.

Hi.

We are approaching autumn and its cooler and more rain. But got the copper got out for steel. Lately my driver side door lock started to malfunction. So I have to replace some of them. To get the switches out of the door panel press straight in on the locking springs. That will release them.IMG_20240818_114755761.jpg.c0d5413d166033d72edbc5f3996dbef9.jpgDONT use force on the plastic๐Ÿ˜ฉAfter putting the door lock motors back in the doors the driver side one worked opposite of the passenger side. When pressing Lock the passenger side locked but the driver side unlocked๐Ÿ˜ฏ. I had the gear off when repairing the driver side motor. But I cant figure out how that could change the mode of operation. I ended up with " modifying" the connection at the bottom of the motor so I could connect the power connector turned 180' . Well it works now. I have 2 new motors but I found out the connection pins in them sits closer than in the originals.๐Ÿ™. Ultrapower 746147. Though they were said to fit -86 Bronco they dont. Facebook just notified me that 6 years ago I was in Stavanger, and it was much cooler there than here in Oklahoma. So since you are farther north than Stavanger I can easily see how your weather is cool and wet. ๐Ÿ‘

But your repairs look good. The JB Weld should hold nicely. And reversing the wires is what Iโ€™d have done.

Autumn is here with rain, sun and cloudy weather. First snow has hit the highest tops. But it will go. Top temps mostly between 40'f and 50'f. Eddie runs good. After changing jets ( again) in the carburator he is at 12,7 - 14,7 mpg. Local or long distance driving.
