The rear window probably just needs a service. the plastic guides the window scissors have at the end can wear out and inside the motor gearbox there are some plastic bits that wear and break. These can be serviced, I just swapped the whole motor and gear box on Espy. Hi. I tried to lube the mechanism for the rear window. The new oil helped but I still have to assist the window to move with pushing/ pulling the glass. Thanks for your tips Gsmblue 🙂. The last days we have moved from Peshierga at the Garda sea to Gaschurn, Austria. Stresa, Lago Maggiore Tomorrow its more beautiful roads before we end up in V8 Hotel, Stuttgart, Germany. That road along Lago Maggiore looks like the same one we were on in a bus last fall going from Lugano to Tirano, from the end of the Gotthard Express to the beginning of the Bernina Express. But that goes along Lago Lugano, not Lago Maggiore, so it isn't the same one - it just looks like it. Austria is one of my favorites, but I've not been to Gaschurn. But it has to be beautiful! Was not aware of the night tour. Noticed though there was some US tourists in town. How did you get there ? Well, finally home so time to fix the rear window motor. It is pretty straight forward to get the mechanism out of the tailgate. Drive the motor to get access to the 4 bolts holding the assembly. Disconnect the sliders from the window and the electrical connector. The electrical connector also needed a cleaning. It had failing connection at times. Drowe the motor again to resting position. Relieving spring pressure. The toothed plastic wheel had a crack and the plastic rods were crushed.The mechanism and plastic gliders looked good so I replaced the gears in the motor. Compared a new motor I have for the passenger side door with the motor from the tailgate. They are the same and not the same. The new motor is sold as a replacement for both positions. After cleaning up the mechanism and covering everything with Fluid Film and new grease on the moving parts the window goes up and down effortlesly. Next was a new speedometer cable. The old started making a ticking sound during our trip to the Alps. A 92" long cable fits fine.Found a new o-ring to replace the old cracked one.Will see later if it works.. Electric speed censor ? Its for the cruise controll I guess.New cable installed. Went for a test drive yesterday. Everything works fine. But there is a faint ticking sound coming from the ventilation fan. Rented/hired a car there and drove to Pisa to pick up or son & DiL. Drove north of there to a rented villa and used it as a base to visit bunches of places in Italy, including Florence, the Cinque Terra, & Orvieto. After the kids left we drove to Lake Garda. From there north through Fussen and then the Romantic Road, which was boring. Then Rottenburg, and finally Bacharach where we stayed 4 days and drove up and down the Rhine visiting cute little German villages. But we discovered that 4 weeks was just a bit too much. Greetings Stein. remove the blower assembly from the housing and check for leaves and debris. take the opportunity to vacuum out all that you can reach in every possible duct coming and going. if you do find any leaves, pull the blower resister also and prove it to be clean.
