been super busy...some updates on cam's truck....found out it has a 2.55ish rear gear combined with 35's and a 3 speed...not an ideal set up...lol so 3.89s with true trac are going in over winter break. We also have a 5 speed coming to replace the 3 speed

Cam's truck looks good. :nabble_smiley_good: Nice stance. But you are right, those gears and tires wouldn't work well together. However, with 35's and presumably an overdrive in that 5-speed I'd be tempted to go to 4.10's instead of 3.89's.

I have 3.55's in Big Blue and 33" tires, and 2nd gear is what I used to start around town. But it is almost too high. I had the choice to go with 4.10's in the rear to match the front I got, or go with 3.55's in the front to match the rear I already had. Now I'm kinda wishing I'd gone lower.

As for the other pics, it looks like you have a Huck as well - Half Truck. What are the plans for that?

And how fast do you have to get that Ram going to "get air"?

The hot rod is taking shape. When are you going to update that thread?

Yeah, if you have the 3.89's in stock then it makes sense to go with them. They'll make a huge difference.

I'm amazed at how many people put huge tires on and won't re-gear. Next door neighbor did that and, in spite of my urging, had to drive the Jeep on the floor. Years later he re-geared and told me he wished he'd have done it when I suggested it. Night and day difference.

Sounds like you are using all the bits off that parts truck. Or holding onto them until you need them. Good plan. I've done the same on Huck's bits, and have been surprised how often I need something from him.

The droop on the Ram is good. Makes the landing soooo much better. Big Blue had 2" of articulation with the original TTB's and leaf springs. The D60/Superduty springs & RSK gave it 8", and the ride and handling are dramatically better. But those coil springs you have are even better.

Neat pics on that page. This one's unbelievable!

Back in the early 80's I some buddies did 4x4 racing but we did not have big tracks to do it on.

We used moto-x tracks, little short ones.

First we would do a timed run. 2 truck 180 from each other and once we got times they would match us up to the closest times and run 10 truck for 10 laps.

It was ruff on trucks and bodies (yours) bouncing around for 10 laps!

Some of the guys we raced with were just starting to build trucks like yours but were to big / fast for the tracks we ran on. Their sons now race in SCORE out west.

We also did not have all the fancy suspension parts you can get today, it was just starting to come out back then. We also used the same trucks for 100 yard sand / hill drags and hill climbs or timed runs through the woods (1 truck at a time).

It was hard to get 1 truck to do every thing good so you went for just "well" LOL

I got to say I would not even think of doing that racing today as I know my body could not take it.

I guess thats why I went to auto cross racing then 1/4 mile drag racing LOL.

Yes, I'd say it does alright for 9000 lbs! But you've done a ton of work on it as well. :nabble_smiley_good:
