I removed the transmission and transfer case over the weekend, that was quite a chore. New freeze plug installed behind the flywheel. The flywheel was very pitted and the clutch looked pretty worn so I'm planning to replace those while they're out. I would like to do anything I can to not have to remove this stuff again anytime soon. The odometer shows about 75k. Knowing it's history and looking at the pedal and floor wear, I would have assumed it hasn't rolled over. But the condition of the clutch and flywheel make me question that. In any case, hope to have all the new parts installed next weekend and then I'll focus on addressing the exhaust leaks. Alan - You are now on the map. And, I agree with the plan to replace things like the clutch and flywheel while you have the tranny back. You can usually get a clutch set for ~$100.
