nlongo33 Posted November 19, 2020 Share Posted November 19, 2020 Good Morning, My name is Nick and teach engineering and technology in the hudson valley in new york... my son just bought for his first truck an 1981 f 100 with the 255v8 4 speed...yes a youngster who wanted the extra pedal we also have a 1980 f150 with the i300 we scored for free that has a really bad frame, but running gear is good and interior is mint Plan: convert the f100 to 4wd, 4" lift and 35s, and salvage good parts off the 80' other vehicles in the Longo fleet: 1925 ford model T sedan street rod project 1968 ford galaxie wagon 428 big block 1987 chevy k5 blazer 1 tons locked 39.5s 1987 chevy 3+3 crew cab long bed dropped 2007 dodge megacab prerunner 2010 jeep jk unlimited 2015 jeep jk looking forward to adding to the conversations.... all my best, Nick Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But you've come to the right place - we understand and can commiserate, but don't see a need to "fix" you. And why not have your son join as well? We intend to be family oriented/safe. It looks like you have the makings of a good truck. I assume you are going to use the 300 in the '80? Is it a 4wd already? One tip - the early 1980 trucks had slightly different wiring in some cases. For instance, the instrument clusters are different as the lights in the "eyebrow" are in a different order. So watch out for that. And, if the '81 was a "stripper", meaning as cheap as possible, it might have idiot lights instead of gauges. Or the '80 might. Note that the dash wiring is different between the two as there are more wires to the gauge cluster than to the idiot light cluster, and different connectors. Whether "Grandpa's/Dad's truck" or son/daughter bonding experiences. 35 years ago I had a GF from Walkill/Pine Bush area. And we also have a recent member who teaches E&T, in fact his username is 'Teach'. 😉 We really enjoy generational projects. Her dad was a mechanic, who taught night school to help make ends meet i am right down the street from pinebush....town of hamptonburgh (zip 12543). i teach at valley central. yah i am going to have the boy sign up. yah i have an addiction, better than herion i guess, just not as cheap..lol original plan was to yank entire drive train out of 80' f150...because seller of 81' said motor didn't run, but it does and pretty well too.....so for time being is get 81' safe and driving then eventually swap out the 255 for the 300 the 81' is pretty well optioned, ac/ factory fog lights/ in dash tach...ect just looking around great job on the site Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And, by the way, you are now on the map, which shows that you and Jim aren't far apart. If the '81 has lots of options, like the fog lights, you have a rare one. Let's see some pics! But you may want to read up on how to do that as it isn't the easiest thing on this site: Bullnose Forum/Forum FAQ's in the menu. If you are on the south side of 84 closer to Goshen you or your students might be interested in the rocket launches at the SuperSod farm in Pine Island (if they are still happening) Seems like a very STEM thing to do, and kids get excited about things that Wooosh! https://metrarocketclub.org/ I know their ceiling is only to about 5,500' because of Stewart, but that means you keep them in sight. There's plenty of space for up to M engines. ETA: season is over, but you might contact the board members. I know when I was on the board of CTRA/NARCONN we were always doing outreach with schools and boy/girl scouts. Or doing a build and fly workshop at our launches. I see Horrid Fate has engine stands on 'sale' again. ya we do Strato blasters too (water rockets) pretty cool as well.... black truck is essentially going to be scavenged for all the good stuff and used on the blue truck or cataloged and stored in the barn...the blue truck is solid here is pics of rest of the fleet: I have automotive ADHD, i like anything cool and i love from fast to slow... i do not have a good pic of the T on my phone but that project is pretty rad too Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
