JG2020
A relay is required for it to run properly. There is no switched power feed on a Bullnose that will provide the needed current. And certainly not the wire to the old coil. But, that wire can be used to pull in a relay. Great. I'll check these options out. Thanks very much everyone . I've got two of them in my truck now... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F203049426422

I wired the relay today and much to my surprise she started right up. I still have to find a vacuum hose for the carb to dizzy advance. I found a vacuum port on the carb which will work. The engine sounds good even though I have not set the timing yet. I did flash the timing light on the timing gauge but I could not see any marks on the pulley. The gauge is pretty rusted and I could not see any numbers on it so I will have to clean that up. It's idling around 750 rpm. I have not set the timing on a water cooled engine before only air cooled VW engines. Thanks again to all of you and your quick and detailed responses. Much appreciated Here is a link to a video of it running with the new distributor and relay. https://youtu.be/QsstGkAdBL0 Josh

(Maybe not as simple as an air cooled engine with a generator, but still simple) There's no need to feel intimidated.
