sgauvry
The 1985.5 Ford F150 5.0 has a negative battery cable with a pigtail. That pigtail connects to a very small cylindrical plug that runs to and connects to a plug in connector in another part of the harness that is close to the test connector. As I understand the diagram, that then runs to the EEC for ground. Does anyone know where I can purchase the cylindrical plug wire that runs to the plug-in connector? It is my understanding that connection is absolutely necessary for things to work correctly. If such a part is no longer available, would a solder connection at both ends work well? 85lebaront2
Steve, if you have a good picture, I have a good size collection of Ford connectors. You are both right and wrong in your assessment, the wire does go to the EEC harness, but it is used for grounding the entire EFI system, not the other way around. Yes, a bad ground and it will either not run at all or poorly. My son simply splices enough on the end of the EFI harness he could use a 5/16" lug and and extra nut on the negative battery cable. FuzzFace2
I think I know what you are talking about even with out a picture. Standard makes crimp on connectors of male & females type. https://www.lawsonproducts.com/Snap-Plugs-Receptacles/Terminals-Wire-Connectors/Electrical/EL600550.lpc If me and did not worry if stock or not I would look into weather pack connectors and replace both sides. https://www.delcity.net/store/Weather-Packs-&-Accessories/p_797633.r_IS1028?&mkwid=sHwH5FKfm&crid=78412949309&mp_kw=delphi%20weather%20pack%20connectors&mp_mt=b&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6sv79bD02QIVi0oNCh0ofQ9AEAAYASAAEgL83PD_BwE Dave ----

Thanks, Gary. What you said is what i meant. I worded it poorly. Might want to take you up on your offer for the right connector. Will send a pic tpmorrow.
